When I wrote this article last night,it struck me that it might make a good Early 20th Century "pulp fiction" scenarios for a wargame. This is an incident that actually happened to a family member, we figure between 1912 and 1915. And it has all the cool stuff: Chinese pirates, German colonial sailors, Norwegian merchant seamen and Chinese ports.

You could use AIP "Chinese Boxers" for Pirates. Any number of toy boats coud lserve as Chinese junks, Norwegian wind-jammers and German gunboats.

Basicaly, me wife's grandfather's ship was ambushed by Chinese pirates outside a German-run Chinese port. It's an interesting story. I might add that during World War I, he survived being on three ships that were torpedoed by the Germans. Tough old man!

One day I will tell the story about his being torpedoed twice on one trip. They got him on the way in and then when he left on another ship, on the way out. The story of the pirate struck a nerve, perhaps because of the old comic "Terry and the Pirates" that I read in the newspapers as a kid.
