This is a technical question for anyone with knowledge of the chemical properties of epoxy putties. I had some green stuff where I had torn off slightly more yellow than blue and kneaded it into green. I had a bit more of the blue left blue left so I added it to the existing green and kneaded it again until it was all evenly green.

Will this still harden normally? It's kind of difficult to cut precisely exactly equal amounts and it seemed that adding blue to already mixed green did work.

It has been my experience that a bit of variation in mixture makes little difference, apart from a slight difference in the curing time.

Gotcha, I understand now that if the amounts aren't exactly equal it will still work. But will it still harden if you add more blue AFTER you've already mixed a batch fully green?

Obviously there's no need to do that normally, I just had a little extra blue so I added it afterwards on a spontaneous whim. Guess what I mean is will blue chemically mix into putty that is already green?…Or does it cause a problem?

If it's not too long after the first mix (say 30 minutes), as long as the color of the new mix is solid (no veins of blue or yellow), it should be fine.

Ok, thanks!

You'll have no problem with it.

you may not always want equal amounts

Altering the mix with more blue component produces a faster, harder cure for building structures; the use of more yellow component results in a slower, softer cure for detail work.
