Ok, I'm thinking about dumping 28mm for 15mm. You guys have already given me space Orks in 15mm. What figures do you use for space marines, guardsmen and admech? Thank-you in advance.

Lots of options. Real questions is how far away in style/look from your 28mm troops are you willing to go? Alternate Armies has some great "space Knight" looking troops. Rebel Minis has several faction/nations as well, each with a themed look. Khurasan has several as well.

And you can get several platoons for the same price as a box from GW

Slap Miniatures, who make the 'Space Dorks' also makes Space Knights and Global Defense Forces……

Thanks, I would like them to have the "look" of the GW's, but, they don't have to be exactly the same. I've looked at some of the manufactures and there are plenty of "earth" type troops, but I don't see anything that I would call admech and the sm types look too medieval knightly to me.

If you want a pure GW-look you probably have to go with 3D print and/or conversions. Personally I went with Ion Age retained knights for not-marines and used 1:76 M113's as proxy Rhino's.

I'd also check out 15mm Defeat in Detail range, which has not-marines and regular infantry, which are as close to IG as anything.

Onslaught have smaller range of 15mm which may be worth a look.

TMP member Gunnar Dunbar's blog has a brilliant series of posts on his 15mm 40K projects.

Admech, at least mirroring GW's current figures, are likely to be the most difficult.

(Onslaught miniatures 15mm Grudd) which are dwarves. If you want your mind blown his line of 6mm stuff is fantastic too. But I agree 15mm is the best! Welcome !

I do have some Astartes-ish conversion parts here:

For 15mm Space Marines, I've used Ion Age Prydian knights (like the number of weapons options on these), and Khurasan's Federal Troopers in Power Armor (post-apoc line) with modified paldrons.

Were I to start another SM-type army, I'd go with Vanguard's 15mm Defeat in Detail minis (they also have good-looking IG proxies): link

These are the Khurasan troopers. Pauldrons, jet packs, and terminator shields/thunder hammers are 3d printed:

Family photo; I still have a devastator squad and another assault squad in my project box.

Here are the absolute best 15mm for Space Marines.

And Orks in the second link…
