My latest blog entry covers the publication and release of "Si Vis Pacem", fast play WW1 naval rules developed by Stuart Machin and myself and used recently at the Berkeley Vale "Jutland in a Day" game

I bought a copy yesterday, as soon as I got the email announcement. :-)

So did I! As well as the Jutland campaign game system.

David,

These are great. Thank you for publishing them.

I am a big fan of fast play rules for even small encounters. Having read these, will be using them quite a bit.

I've also got the rules and have 1 minor question.

In section 0908 Special damage it says that the attacker has to roll a 4.

In the other rules its generally a 6 for the attacker so is this a typo?

colkitto03 Jun 2018 5:59 a.m. PST

I am very excited about this new set of rules and hope to get hold of them shortly.

@ Mr Manley: the question about a possible typo reminds me – I have several sets of your excellent rules, including Broadside and Ram. I spotted and marked up a number of likely typos in the version I got some time ago, but didn't get round to asking you about them. Not sure whether you update the text from time to time – would it be of any help if I were to pass them on somehow? (Like in a marked up Word doc, if you have such a thing?)

David Manley03 Jun 2018 1:32 p.m. PST

Doomed – no it's supposed to be a 4

Colkitto – always happy to hear if someone has found a mistake, just drop me a line

Will do. Is your address somewhere easy to find? I seem to remember looking for it unsuccessfully!

"0902 Gunfire Target Allocation. Each ship larger than a CL may engage one enemy ship and one DD per side."

Does this mean that a ship larger than CL may fire at one ship and one DD on each side?

In other words; fire at two ship and two DD's totalling four targets?

Old Warrior12 Jun 2018 6:53 p.m. PST

1102 ---
Roll for damage as if the ship has been hit by a +5 --- attack with no range modifiers.
Damage effects are the same as for gunnery."
After hits are scored how exactly is damage resolved?

Special Damage: Does Turret damage also impact the Light Guns?

We we have several more rules questions and some constructive comments but no easy way to contact the rules author. Can see some good potential in the rules but there are many rough edges that can use some help.
