Last year I celebrated the end of school with a fictional encounter between two cavalry divisions. It was a very fun game. I thought I would share some pictures and a link for a more detailed account.

You are right about needing large numbers of cavalry for RF&F historical battles.

Aldie is not too large. There are several other small fights in that area in June. Of course, there are also larger ones like Middleburg and Upperville.

Another option is to play part of a larger battle.

Here is a link to Crossed Sabers (PDF) which has a lot of Gettysburg campaign cavalry scenarios. Not too many are small, but Aldie is there.

Nice game!

Cavalry is a pain in RFF, just because you need two versions of each unit (mounted and dismounted) so take longer to make. But offer a lot more choices in game.
