Hello all. I recently stumbled upon a boatload of the old WOTC Star Wars miniatures for dirt cheap and was wondering if there were any good solo rulesets for wargaming? Anything from skirmish to large scale is perfectly fine to recommend. I would also appreciate it if you said why you think the ruleset is good. Thanks guys! :)

Most rules can be used solo with the right mindset. Take a look at the rules from Two Hour Wargames, they are designed primarily for solo or same side games.

You could use them with Imperial Assault and download the free IA app from Fantasy Flight Games. It's how I use mine instead of the included unpainted minis.

Check out Herkybird's posts and blog. He has what seems to be a very good solo/same side system, and I think the core mechanism should be very readily adaptable to any sort of small-scale action.

I like the Two Hour Wargames rules. You deploy your forces, then put out PEFs (possible enemy forces). Your mission is usually to scout out the area and find out what those PEFs are. Sometimes you have a specific mission (take over a house, escort a VIP, just cross the table, etc) and the PEFs become items to either deal with or skirt around.

Once you wrap your head around the In-Sight tests, the games usually give a pretty good narrative of how it would have played out "in real life". ie. The games are pretty plausible without wild swings of critical hits and misses.

I play my regular minis games solo. Just play both sides to win. There's no tactical surprises but it's still fun.

Combat patrol works well. Buck has downloadable rules for star wars. Also, I really like the card dynamic, really works well for solo gaming. Look at the videos, very helpful link

Rogue Stars for a small scale skirmish.

It's a board game, but Last Frontier: The Vesuvius Incident is a solo game that has a lot of replay value.

You're in command of a squad of Marines, on the way back home from a nasty fight, when you catch a distress call from a ship in a failing orbit.

Now, nobody is answering the radio.

Suit up and rescue all the survivors!

Nobody bit on the "Solo" rules for Star Wars?

I'll have to Han it to you!
