link . … .. Look, guys, if you are a hetrosexual white man with an ounce of self respect do us all a favour and sit this one out. You don't need to tell anyone *why* you are not going to see Soylo, A Soy Wars Soyry, but seriously. Do you want this to go any further? Just find yourself to be too busy this weekend to pay to go to the movies. |
Dynaman8789 | 24 May 2018 4:04 a.m. PST |
News flash! Another SIW (Social Injustice Warrior) is upset. |
Dezmond | 24 May 2018 4:14 a.m. PST |
As I say, you don't need to tell anyone *why* you are not going to see Soylo and risk public shaming by progressives for daring to stand up for yourself. Just don't go. They haven't made it mandatory. Yet. |
Dynaman8789 | 24 May 2018 4:27 a.m. PST |
I'm going, just to annoy the SIWs. |
Dezmond | 24 May 2018 4:39 a.m. PST |
Yes. Make no mistake – paying to see Soylo is a political act and a way to strike a blow against hetrosexual white men. I merely ask people consider if that is a blow they want to strike. And if not go visit your inlaws or something. |
Cacique Caribe | 24 May 2018 4:39 a.m. PST |
I don't plan to go. The Last Jedi was my last Star Wars film, and I am done with Star Trek too, and there are a couple of dozen* reasons for my decision. Dan * I agree with 23 out of the 26 reasons given here: YouTube link TMP link |

Is anyone taking this bilge seriously? |
20thmaine | 24 May 2018 5:28 a.m. PST |
If anyone thinks that I won't see Solo because of something on the internet then they are much mistaken. I'm going to see Solo. If it's as good as I think it's going to be, then I'll see it twice. It has Woody Harrelson in it – look at his track record: Zombieland, Three Billboards, War for the Planet of the Apes. Solo is going to be a greatly enjoyable film. |
Axebreaker | 24 May 2018 5:46 a.m. PST |
Disney for one and The Last Jedi killed SW and as long as Kennedy is running things I won't waste my hard earned cash on another SW film. If audience reviews (not critics) say it's worth seeing I may see myself get off the sofa and go as I love SW just not the SJW versions they have been shoving down our throats of late. Christopher |

I am still upset that Dunkirk did not have any female/ehtnic or LGBT lead roles, Tally Ho! |

> Is anyone taking this bilge seriously? This post, the movie, or the link? No to all three. |
Garand | 24 May 2018 6:18 a.m. PST |
Well after reading all of this, I am DEFINITELY going to go see it, & take both my daughters too! Damon. |
Dn Jackson | 24 May 2018 6:48 a.m. PST |
TLJ killed Star Wars for me as well. And I remember when the original came out. To be honest the nostalgia of my youth was the only thing that got me to go to TLJ. But it was so bad I won't be bothering with any more. |
Col Durnford | 24 May 2018 6:57 a.m. PST |
This entire discussion will have no effect on me. I had no plan to see it in the first place. I saw the first after the mouse took over and was hopeful (after the last three) and don't see any reason to go back. Some will love it and call it the best ever. For myself, I would have been happier if they would have left it at three. BTW – Han shot first. |

Dynaman: Thanks :) I'm excited to see it. Taking my son too. If it's good it'll be good. If not, oh well, the most I lost was a few hours and a few bucks and I still got to spend the afternoon with my son. If there's an SJW message there, I'm not even sure I'd notice or care and it's not taking anything away from the experience. The only way that's possible is if you feel like you're owed some ridiculously authentic Original Star Wars experience that can't be captured anyway. I don't know where these cranky old white dudes get the idea that they are owed something or things will never change or that the new Star Wars movies should or even could be the same as the originals. I can't see how them reading SJW messages into all these movies is anything other than their own insecurities being projected onto everything simply because the original audience and fans of the franchise has broadened and they have to see more than just themselves in a film. It's pathetic. They're movies. When I watch them I shut down the part of my brain that cares about that kind of thing and watch it for what it is: space opera eye candy. I've liked some of the new movies and thought others were just meh. Not once did I feel like I didn't get my two hours entertainment worth. And to think some of these guys call others snowflakes. Sheesh. |
15mm and 28mm Fanatik | 24 May 2018 10:12 a.m. PST |
The SIW's Strike Back? Does sound pretty pathetic. |
Dynaman8789 | 24 May 2018 10:14 a.m. PST |
It is pathetic that some men are so insecure in their masculinity. After seeing TLJ and then reading it was an SJW movie I no longer take them seriously but take every chance to shove it back at them, hence my new SIW tag (if someone else came up with it first – good for them!) |
ToysnSoldiers | 24 May 2018 10:33 a.m. PST |
No sure that TLJ was a SJW movie. It was boring. |
Dezmond | 24 May 2018 10:43 a.m. PST |
I can but assure you that finding something to do this weekend other than go see Soylo will be a low risk way to show your defiance of SJWs. If you need plausible deniability tell the Diversity Officers you are not going to see it because it stars a white male in the leading role and you cannot condone that sort of racist hate crime. |
Cacique Caribe | 24 May 2018 10:46 a.m. PST |
Dynaman8789 LOL. You do know that the middle letter in your "tag" is not only indistinguishable but that it has already been used to poke fun at SJWs? Dan |
Dezmond | 24 May 2018 10:53 a.m. PST |
I should also note that the numbers for Soylo are looking a little soft (it opened to 1/3 of what Rogue 1 did in France, for example) so even if you have not yet been sucked in to the Culture Wars not going to see Solo could be an opportunity to make The Mouse squirm. And surely everyone would enjoy seeing Disney taken down a peg. |
Dezmond | 24 May 2018 12:29 p.m. PST |
You know it is really very depressing that the greatest enjoyment I get from Star Wars these days is from trawling box office forums looking for signs of underperformance.
|
Cacique Caribe | 24 May 2018 12:45 p.m. PST |
LOL. Former Star Wars fans have taken to calling it "hate viewing", which is seeing the film just to make fun of it. Hey, whatever makes you happy, Dude! :) As for me, I won't waste my time watching franchises that have done nothing for me lately except annoy, disappoint or bore me to death. I might come back someday, maybe, if and when they finally embrace the comedy that they've become:
But these days they just feel like very expensive lame sequels to Space Balls.
Dan PS. The Social Drama Warriors (and the other virtue-signaling types) are probably scratching their heads right about now, wondering how to make what I said sound sexist, racist, fascist or some other ‘-ist". I guess that's their version of "hate viewing" our society. :) TMP link TMP link |
Dezmond | 24 May 2018 1:19 p.m. PST |
>Former Star Wars fans I want to make it clear that we are not victims of Kathleen Kennedy's abuse. We are *survivors*. That should be a <$10 million opening in China in the tweet above. And Soylo is set to do less in Russia in its opening weekend than Deadpool 2 in its second. So really guys, with the movie flopping hard everywhere you may as well join in and give The Mouse a kicking while the kicking is good, regardless of politics. |
Cacique Caribe | 24 May 2018 1:28 p.m. PST |
If it's doing so bad in Communist China, then maybe that's "karma" for Hollywood yielding to China's feelings on the Red Dawn remake, and changing the invaders into North Koreans instead of them, which turned the whole movie into a bad comedy. I would really like to think so. :) Anyway, maybe now is a good time for Hollywood to stop their red ribbon dancing spectacles. However, since they are part owned by Communist China, I fear that the red ribbon dancing will continue. Dan |
Dynaman8789 | 24 May 2018 1:41 p.m. PST |
I'm glad the SIWs are having their manlihood re-affirmed by the Chinese box office for a movie. Does my heart good to see you so happy. |
Cacique Caribe | 24 May 2018 1:45 p.m. PST |
Manlihood? Wow, that didn't take long, did it, with them and their "-ists" claims? So my "revenge" joy talk for screwing up Red Dawn is now a gender issue somehow? Wow that's a big stretch, even for you guys. Huuuge! My days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle. :) Dan |
15mm and 28mm Fanatik | 24 May 2018 1:50 p.m. PST |
Sorry to dampen your enthusiasm, but the Chinese have never been SW fans to begin with so it's not like they recently stopped going to SW movies due to political differences or over any other reason. link The Chinese love: (a) Transformers, and (b) Pirates of the Caribbean. They're a big reason why those two franchises have gone way beyond trilogies. |
Cacique Caribe | 24 May 2018 1:52 p.m. PST |
Well, before today, I wasn't even aware that SW had much of a market there to begin with. Dan |
Dezmond | 24 May 2018 1:53 p.m. PST |
It isn't just China. Soylo is flopping everywhere. Hong Kong OD -80% SK OD -85% France OD -67% Germany OD -60% (not final) Italy OD -40% And seriously, does anyone actually enjoy Star Wars any more? Most fun you are going to get from this movie is to |
Dezmond | 24 May 2018 2:31 p.m. PST |
>may as well join in and give The Mouse a kicking while the kicking is good Apparently, in what is considered a Display of Poor Form, 20th c Fox is lifting restrictions on early discounting of Deadpool 2 tickets in some markets to force Soylo in to second place at the box office on its opening weekend. |
Tgerritsen | 24 May 2018 3:32 p.m. PST |
Eh, I hated TLJ (because it sucked, not because of any manhood issues) but will go see Solo. If it's good, that's great. If it's crap, it's crap. I won't see it this week as I'm vacationing in Alaska though. |
Dezmond | 24 May 2018 3:40 p.m. PST |
>I won't see it this week as I'm vacationing in Alaska though. Just use whatever excuse will keep you safe from SJW reprisals. I am not going to see it because I am attending a ‘Fighting the Patriarchy through interpretive dance' seminar this weekend. |
Calico Bill | 24 May 2018 4:02 p.m. PST |
Not seeing it. For me, Disney SW just isn't entertainment. I'd rather spend the time with friends at a good game. |
Herkybird | 24 May 2018 4:39 p.m. PST |
I will see it, I hope its good escapist fun, and I will not judge it based on the sub-standard (to me) TLJ. |

Old Wolfman | 25 May 2018 6:42 a.m. PST |
I might wait for Mad Magazine's upcoming satire of it,though. Did quite a riffing of TLJ in their most recent issue. |
20thmaine | 25 May 2018 6:47 a.m. PST |
+1 28mm Fanatik And seriously, does anyone actually enjoy Star Wars any more? Apart from when the first film came out (and the subsequent few years) I'd say, "yes, more than ever". I've really enjoyed all of the recent films. The Last Jedi wasn't the best of these, but it was a long way from the worst film I saw that year. |
TheStarRanger | 25 May 2018 11:15 a.m. PST |
Whatever. Saw it, had a good time, laughed out loud. Will see it again this weekend with the family. |
Thomas Whitten | 25 May 2018 12:46 p.m. PST |
The dude who wrote the article does not seem overly connected to reality, so there is no reason to let him influence any preconceptions about Solo. The fact that two of the last three Star Wars were s is of more concern. Rogue One was passable though and the Marvel movies have been mostly good. Therefore, there is some hope. Still it can wait for the cheap theater or a checkout from the library. |

Latest box office news. Don't look SIWs – it will ruin your self esteem. link |
goragrad | 25 May 2018 9:24 p.m. PST |
My self esteem is not impacted by the box office results of my movies. A lot of garbage movies (in my view at least) make tons of money. It is amusing to see the flop of movies with PC messages when that occurs, but it really doesn't matter if they don't. |
Wyatt the Odd | 25 May 2018 11:37 p.m. PST |
Someone please remind Dezzy that Hollywood is not obligated to help 40-something men relive their childhood. The movie is effing great – better if you've been a fan of the nerfed Expanded Universe. My wife is a harder core fan than I am and she approved. Wyatt |
