Well?

Mine is out of control.

I don't want to know.

Negative six. I had a few, but I converted them for sci-fi usage.

I have about 8x Really Useful Boxes of painted troops (4L size), all 15mm. About four of those are ready to play with, the rest are in various states of "need (re)basing", "need touch up", "please repaint me", "need more figures to make a whole unit", etc.

I am in the (slow, slow, sloooooowwwww…) process of adding cavalry. My collection came with far too little.

I have about 5-6 lbs of extra AWI lead, most of it bare, some of it painted, some of it partially painted…. I bought my collection at flea markets, and this is the kind of thing you find when you get to sorting.

I also got a couple pounds of bare lead American Indians this way. I honestly have no use for so much. I will someday paint up what I need and sell off the rest. Some day. I swear! I just have to do this other project on my table first…

I have a couple boxes of painted buildings, another box of unpainted buildings for future projects, and over a half dozen video cassette cases full of fences. These are all generic "early American" themed, not specifically AWI – in fact, all the terrain was made for ACW, and I never would have jumped into the AWI period without it. I need more periods like I need additional cranial perforations. I bought into the AWI because it was a fun diversion I could ramp up quickly.

So, kinda too much, but really, not quite enough. I have enough units to play games, and I do so. I would like to grow the beginnings of my French force into enough for real gaming (especially on Caribbean islands), and I need a lot more militia – especially loyalists. There are also some particular units I want to own, because snazzy uniforms are fun. I could probably use some more Continentals, so I have enough to do an all-Continental army. I would also like to consolidate my Hessians into fewer, larger units, and add a few more units.

Does that make you feel any better?

Getting close to the lead pile purchased 20 years ago. Picked up a few Perry item's a month ago, but wrapping it up overall. Probably 150 mixture of Old Glory troops left. Over 400 28mm… I take them out on the 4th of July at this point and play a game with my son.

If you are trying to start a 12 step meeting, I'm in.

DisasterWargamer Supporting Member of TMP21 May 2018 7:24 p.m. PST

Rather large 15mm force mostly painted except for the odds and ends left from packs when putting together units – 50 units and 42 units painted with a couple on the painting table and a half dozen to go

Terry3721 May 2018 8:12 p.m. PST

In figures I have two armies for playing it using HOTT in 15 MM. For relics I have some musket balls, some flints, one American button and a stock clasp.

Do unpainted, primed, half painted figures and half painted units all mounted on temporary bases count?

Spooner621 May 2018 8:37 p.m. PST

Way too many, but I am still getting more. I say I am around 1000 painted 28's. Basing them is taking forever.

Probably some number of my FIW figures could do double duty.

nevinsrip21 May 2018 9:02 p.m. PST

Total figures including cavalry, artillery and infantry.
Indians can do double duty in the F&I War.
Buildings, redoubts, wagons and terrain pieces, also count.

Painted, unpainted half, finished….. doesn't matter.

Winston Smith21 May 2018 10:09 p.m. PST

Over a thousand. Easily.
But I'm not counting.

Bandolier21 May 2018 10:45 p.m. PST

1034 painted in 28mm (I have a spreadsheet grin).
Plus around 100 that need repainting and 200ish unpainted.

Burgoynes Army..Oriskany campaign…misc….800 -1000,,28mm..plus AWI India,,,

tribunemike22 May 2018 6:19 a.m. PST

Robert Piepenbrink beat me to it – 54mm. About 400 but as ATKM is closing and I am not sure if I can add in the future as I prefer metal over plastic.

khanscom22 May 2018 6:53 a.m. PST

15mm-- mostly Peter Pig and Stone Mountain:

French: 84 infantry, 6 dragoons, 6 naval/siege guns
American: 70 infantry, 9 lt. dragoons, 3 light guns
British: 3 lt. dragoons

Not really enough to start a Savannah campaign.

Dozens and dozens and dozens. Some painted but many not yet, although I'm actually working on them now.

Fully painted and based:
-- British, Loyalist, and Hessian: 216 infantry, 32 cavalry, 16 gunners, 7 mounted officers

-- American: 36 infantry, 24 cavalry, 16 gunners, 6 mounted officers

All the rest are in some state of unreadiness.

Painted a LOT of 15mm figures some years ago, then sold them off during a move. Lately I've been rebuilding them in 25/28mm. I have primarily Crown forces since another is passionately doing the rebels. So between the two sides I have roughly 500 figures painted and playable.

23rdFusilier22 May 2018 9:19 a.m. PST

I had a very nice army of about 1500 Frying Pan and Blanket miniatures. Sad to say lost them in the great house disaster of 2004. Slowly rebuilding armies this time in 25mm. About 600 to 700 painted figures.

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP22 May 2018 9:55 a.m. PST

Formally zero but in 28mm I have about six units of red coats and two cavalry units who could stand in in a pinch; plus four units of rag-tag infantry who could stand in as militia

Personal logo Herkybird Supporting Member of TMP22 May 2018 10:21 a.m. PST

I have about 800 painted Brits and Hessians, but never got round to doing the Rebels…

Gnu200022 May 2018 10:40 a.m. PST

Somewhere just over 3000 x 28mm figures so far

Bill N22 May 2018 11:25 a.m. PST

I did a quick census: 11 completed units plus militia total 286 figures. Unit sizes range from 6 figures (Armand's foot) to 34 (British regulars). I have an additional 36 painted figures for 3 partially painted regiments, extra officers and loose Continentals. No cavalry or artillery painted at this time. All are on temporary bases, as are enough unpainted figures to complete those partial regiments.

Fat Wally22 May 2018 12:57 p.m. PST

2,000 15mm Peter Pig AWI.

Fingerspitzengefuhl22 May 2018 1:28 p.m. PST

54 or 30 figure battalions in 15mm
About 20 British/Hessian units
About 30 American

95th Division22 May 2018 5:10 p.m. PST

In 25/28mm probably around 200 infantry (divided between Continentals, British Foot, Hessians, militia, loyalists), 20 cav (3rd Cont Light Dragoons and British Legion), 10 artillery gunners (2 cannon) and miscellaneous wagons, carts and a number of civilian figures (farmers, townspeople, etc.). All painted and based. And a large lead mountain awaiting painting.

nevinsrip22 May 2018 5:35 p.m. PST

Gnu, (is that you, Steve?) is the leader on the board right now.

Ironwolf22 May 2018 11:44 p.m. PST

All painted and based 15mm.
British: 16 Regiments of 20 figs = 320 figs
British: 8 Artillery units of 4 figs = 32 figs
American: 16 Regiments of 20 figs = 320 figs
American: 8 Artillery units of 4 figs = 32 figs
German: 6 Regiments of 20 figs = 120 figs
German: 3 Artillery units of 4 figs = 12 figs
Loyalist: 5 Regiments of 20 figs = 100 figs
Indians: 10 units of 5 figs = 50 figs
A Dozen wagons, limbers and such.
Total: 986 figs painted figs.

Not painted or based 15mm.
British: 160 figs
American: 160 figs

What I need to purchase more of and paint.
Artillery pieces and crew.

Winston Smith24 May 2018 8:49 p.m. PST

Queen's Rangers: 1/2
Red coat Loyalist, Highlanders: 1
British: 2
Continental: 3 (That includes Associators, Bill…)
Artillery, artillerists and limbers: 2

Continentals: 3
Hunting shirt: 1
Indians: 2
Wagons, etc.: 2
Primed, looking for an identity: 3

I think it's unlucky to count.

Winston Smith24 May 2018 8:51 p.m. PST

So, kinda too much, but really, not quite enough.

Indeed.

Virginia Tory30 May 2018 6:55 a.m. PST

I have roughly a division sized force per side. I usually game with History Gamer and between the two of us we can do any of the major battles that don't involve lots of Indians or unusual formations.

Normal Guy Supporting Member of TMP30 May 2018 8:37 p.m. PST

Oh my. I was concerned that I had too many 28mm figures: almost 1,600. Then I read that Gnu has over 3,000. i feel so much better now knowing that I have only half an addiction.

Brechtel19831 May 2018 3:17 a.m. PST

I have about 200 Imrie-Risley 54mm Continental Regulars organized as a two-company infantry battalion, a company of light infantry, a two-gun company of artillery and a company of the 3d Continental Light Dragoons.

I put it together some years ago to use in the classroom when giving a lesson on the Continental Army.
