The "Germans" were from Pennsylvania, I painted mine in brown coats with red racing's. |

And Marylanders! In fact, they'll eventually be redesignated the 8th Maryland. But they were German enough. Soldiers were tossed out for being neither a German nor the son of a German. PDF link Brown with red sounds right, but I can't confirm.

We just did Trenton. Mine are brown faced blue for enlisted and brown faced red for the officers. The figures are Eureka, from thier ragged rebels range. I will be posting photos soon. The troops in this battalion were from Pennsylvania and Maryland. |

The widow of one veteran of the German wrote of her husband "Dring the said time of his enlistment he suffered much from want of clothing, being sometimes nearly naked, and that at one time his mother travelled from Frederick County to Philadelphia to take him clothes." Before they left Philadelphia in December of 1776 the troops had been issued coats, blankets and bayonets. |
