I am curious. What is your favorite Steve Jackson Game? Mine is OGRE miniatures game. Still fun!

Gone Fishing20 May 2018 12:20 p.m. PST

Not sure if Melee and Wizard count (they were released by Metagaming but designed by Mr Jackson), but they are still very good.

My friends and I also enjoyed Globbo!, an odd little game from the 80s that has long been OP. When I mentioned this to the young staff at his booth once, they denied there had ever been such a game. So you see, it didn't leave much of an industry impression. Good fun though.

Ogre, hands down.

I used to own Illuminati, and always thought I would like it, but never found any interested players, so I sold it. Kinda wish I hadn't, as my group now would probably give it a go.

I can't decide between Illuminati or Car Wars.

Ogre!

Though I probably have played Illuminati more.

Fantasy Trip system, also quite decent, is Jackson and it's coming back rsn.

This will need a 'never heard of him' option…

For Miniatures GEV (as a Microgame – more depth than Ogre alone) and the Fantasy Trip

Though have to admit – I played a game of Ogre Smash years ago I loved – Ogres, and all other units made out of clay and judged by other players to be game worthy or not.

Fantasy Trip particularly the original Melee I have used the most

For Card Games – Munchkin Impossible

Fighting Fantasy…. oh wrong Steve Jackson.
Man to Man Combat. A set of stand alone GURPS fantasy combat rules, released as a preview for the GURPS RPG system.

Melee/Wizard/The Fantasy Trip

jfleisher20 May 2018 4:53 p.m. PST

I would have to say Ogre, since 1977.

jowady20 May 2018 5:20 p.m. PST

Another vote for Melee Wizard The Fantasy Trip

Katzbalger20 May 2018 5:21 p.m. PST

I've played Globbo! and it was great fun…came in a magazine, if I remember correctly, but my favorite is GEV (second is Ogre).

Still have my original copies of the latter two (Globbo! was a friend's game).

The Awfuk Green Things from Outer Space. And Ogre as a close second.

Awful Green Things is a Tom Wham game, now published by Steve Jackson Games, but not a Jackson design.

Andrew Walters20 May 2018 10:10 p.m. PST

Ogre is number one, The Fantasy Trip is second. Once upon a time Illuminati would have been number one, I had some great times with that one.

sillypoint21 May 2018 1:57 a.m. PST

Illuminati- now dated…fond memories with friends now past. Currently resurrecting Car Wars.

Car Wars….Still have the Hot Wheels cars we modified to play it 30 years ago.

Car Wars. Although I have bought the new ORGE plastic minis.

Phil DAmato21 May 2018 9:31 a.m. PST

That's a hard one. I loved Ogre and the Fantasy trip.

Tough to decide one over the other.

The Fantasy Trip. Outstanding game.

Then Ogre. I have the GIANT box set that was a KS, I got it for a song later. I've since backed KS Ogre minis I and II, and the still ongoing Ogre Miniatres rules….

OGRE/GEV as well …

Tony S22 May 2018 4:08 p.m. PST

Can't decide between Ogre/GEV and Car Wars. Bought all the supplements and expansions and magazines for both of them!

Was Raid On Iran one of his? I liked that one
