Here's the final result of my attempt at making some modular terrain for winter-themed tables.

I made these primarily for the game Star Wars: Legion.

However these would work great for any kind of winter-themed board, or like a chaos wasteland board.

These are very easy to make. I just took leftover bits of pink insulation foam and chopped them into random shapes and then hacked some stone texturing into them. Then I glued the foam pieces to pieces of thin cardboard for bases.

I base coated all the pieces in black craft paint. Then I just gave the stone and rock areas a single highlight of lighter gray.

For the snow effects I mixed up a batch of snow paste using PVA glue, white craft paint, and baking soda. While the paste was still wet on the pieces I sprinkled some Woodland Scenics snow flock over all the pieces.

Overall I think they came out pretty decently for just using some scrap foam and cardboard. I plan to use this same technique for when I do some historical dioramas with a Tiger Tank and other things.

(Note: That really cool laser gun tower in the middle of the terrain pieces is a 3D-printed piece made by a company called "Printerrain". They do some amazing stuff in 32mm scale for sci-fi games, and at seriously decent prices!)
