Cretan archers from Newline Designs 20mm Ancients range, ready for Magnesia even if the Lost Battles re-fight slowly descends down the 'to do list'. I am not sure whether or not to give them a small shield, but it is something that can easily be added in the future should I feel the need. Cheers!

Nicely done. On the issue of shields I tend to believe the use of shields is what distinguished Cretans (and neo-Cretans) from other archers of the era.

Brilliantly! I'd like to copy the technique if I may. What wash do you use and how much do you add highlights after (you say not everything is highlighted?). Thanks you and great work!

Cheers! I'm thinking the same for the shields I need to do a bit of further research, either way I am hoping to convince Sean to produce some 'Neo-Cretans'.

Yes of course Ney Ney, I currently still use Delvan Mud but I know their days are numbered and will probably try an Army Painter equivalent. Strong tone I think has been suggested but I need to look further into this.

On these particular miniatures I did not highlight their flesh (except the face which I used Elf flesh), their footware, bow and quiver.

I was for sometime posting on a separate blog a step by step on some of my previous projects, I have fallen out of the habbit recently but I should do it again because I often forget myself: link

On the washes front I recently started using Vallejo Sepia Wash which comes in a 200ml pot. I'm getting some decent results with it though I paint it on rather than dipping as they suggest.
