Anyway, I guess that, since my days of watching superhero movies have already come to an end a couple of years ago, this one wasn't going to be on my must see list no matter who the Captain ended up being.

In regards to its first female superhero movie, Marvel is already behind DC with 'Wonder Woman' so is playing catch up.

Wonder Woman was always a female character.

Captain Marvel, also known as Shazam
Artist C. C. Beck and writer Bill Parker created the character in 1939. Captain Marvel first appeared in Whiz Comics #2 (cover-dated Feb. 1940), published by Fawcett Comics.Based on book sales, the character was the most popular superhero of the 1940s, outselling even Superman.

Fawcett ceased publishing Captain Marvel-related comics in 1953, partly because of a copyright infringement suit from DC Comics, alleging that Captain Marvel was a copy of Superman. Dc then bought the character.

Marvel notice the copyright to name had expired and published.

1st Marvel Captain Mar-vell was created by Stan Lee and Gene Colan in Marvel Super-Heroes #12 (December 1967)

2nd Marvel Captain Marvel was created by writer Roger Stern and artist John Romita, Jr.. She first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #16 (1982).

3rd Marvel Captain Marvel is Genis-Vell, who first appeared in Silver Surfer Annual #6 (1993)

The 4th Marvel Captain Marvel is Phyla-Vell, Genis-Vell's younger sister. She was created by Peter David and Paul Azaceta in Captain Marvel (vol. 5) #16 (January 2004)

The 5th Marvel Captain Marvel is Khn'nr, who first appeared in Civil War: The Return (March 2007).

Um, no Carol Danvers has been Ms. Marvel since Jan 1977 (Ms. Marvel #1).
At least according to the Carol Danvers(Earth-616) page of the Marvel wikia.
And I remember reading it in the late 70s-early 80s.

I was referring to what you said. And there was nothing wrong with your statement, so I didn't have to repeat it or amend it in any way. You were spot on. The story feels like weak tea, or maybe it's the acting. Perhaps a stronger actress? Anyway all I have to go by is a trailer.

But we can see how the rest, specially Winston, are getting all bent out of shape ("Welcome to The He-Man Woman Haters Club") over what they think I meant.

If I say that a movie with a male lead has a weak plot, no one bats an eye. The moment I say that exact same thing about a movie that has a female lead, suddenly someone says I'm part of a "He-Man Woman Haters Club" and soon the rest join in.

Anyway, man or woman, I'm done watching superhero movies. The last one I liked to some extent was Winter Soldier (2014). The rest that came after sucked, and they seem to get progressively lamer each year.

The essential truth is that unless you are really, really keen on endlessly kowtowing to people who openly despise you for your gender and the colour of your skin modern mainstream culture really has very little to offer you if you are a white male.

Certain members of TMP have decided that the white male is an endangered species in pop culture and will take every opportunity to remind us of that "fact."

It isn't as if Tolerant Progressives go out of their way to conceal their efforts to ethnically cleanse the world of the malign influence of the white devil penises.

Well, given how many powerful people appear to nurse (and act upon) a genocidal hatred of People of European Ancestry I think it behooves us to, at the very least, not *affectedly pretend not to notice*.
