"Iranian forces in Syria fired about 20 rockets into the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights early Thursday, targeting forward positions of the Israeli military, according to a military spokesman.

The spokesman, Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, said Israel had responded to the attack but did not provide details. If confirmed, this would be the first rocket attack carried out directly by Iran, rather than by one of its proxies, against Israel.

Colonel Conricus said that several of the rockets had been intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system. He said that he was not aware of any casualties and that damage to Israeli facilities was low…."

Looks like Iran is trying to draw Israel into a war and inflame the Arab world against a "common enemy."

zoneofcontrol09 May 2018 10:08 p.m. PST

It's the Iranian missiles fired into Saudi Arabia that cloud the issue. Could get (more) interesting…

ZOC: "It's the Iranian missiles fired into Saudi Arabia that cloud the issue"

Maybe Iran was to "liberate" the Arab world, and the holy sites, from the Saud. :)

Yeah , but they would have to "liberate" the arab world from the arabs too…

Cacique Caribe10 May 2018 6:03 a.m. PST

One thing at a time. :)

Iran is not an Arab country so the likelihood of that happening is next to nil. They will be able to muster all their Shia militias that they have either supported or founded, but they are already doing that.

"Yeah , but they would have to "liberate" the arab world from the arabs too…"

Iran just desires to get rid of some "untermensch" in order to gain some "Lebensraum." (New concept, never been put into practice before.)

Here's hoping everybody calms the hell down before it gets worse. What are the odds?

According to this article in the New York Times of 10 May 2018:

Iran's rocket attack against Israel came after what appeared to have been an Israeli missile strike against a village in the Syrian Golan Heights late on Wednesday.

Fake news or is this the reality? Who would like to precipitate a war against Iran, Iran or Israel?

zoneofcontrol11 May 2018 8:22 p.m. PST

"Israel's defense minister said that Israeli warplanes had destroyed "nearly all" of Iran's military infrastructure in Syria…"

That's some pretty good shootin'.
