There was one guy who wore a t-shirt I found offensive to every convention I attend. Year after year, there he'd be. But eventually I guess it wore out because he stopped wearing it :)

If he didn't wash it … for years … well that would probably be very offensive. I.e. Chem/bio warfare … evil grin

Legion 4: maybe _he_ wore out and the t-shirt walked in on its own power?

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP10 May 2018 1:55 p.m. PST

Now that would be Offensive ! huh?

I don't own a Nazi t-shirt but I do have a t-shirt with the Rising Sun Flag and the Battleship Yamato, and I've worn it many times at local conventions and I've gotten good comments about it.

So is wearing Imperial Japanese stuff different than wearing Nazi stuff?

One other thing I have several audio tapes loaded with Japanese Military music and I also own a few cd's of German Military music that I listen to on a regular basis and I like the music plain and simple.

Depends on which family reunion I am going to. My mom's dad fought the Nazis. My dad's brothers served in the Pacific.

I've considered wearing my uncle's Soviet Naval Infantry combination cover (real, not repro – He didn't get out from behind the Iron Curtain, so a couple years after the war he "volunteered" for the military) a couple times.

Both the Nazis & IJFs did commit many war crimes … But one could say the same about the USSR, e.g. during the Battle of Berlin, i.e. if reports are accurate, over 90,000 German women were raped by Russian troops(?). Or the Katyn Forest link … So … ?

I think like everything it is context and POV … ?

However, it is clear war crimes were committed by the Germans, Japanese and Russians in WWII. It is hard to deny … yes ?

I know I wouldn't wear a IJF's T-shirt anymore than I would a Nazi one …

Ditto what "robert piepenbrink" said.

There's always worse things than what's on a t-shirt. JMO

Yes, based on the "physical condition" of many gamers old fart … NO T-shirt … would be much more offensive !!!! evil grin

But one could say the same about the USSR,

My mother's relatives fought them before the Nazis, then were betrayed and abandoned to them after the end of WWII, so … yeah. Technically, the Soviets didn't commit war crimes against my family, since the execution of civilians occurred after the formal end of hostilities. It was an internal matter …

Whether right or wrong humans do judge others by the company they keep. And telling yourself you're a nice guy, who is just indifferent to sensibilities of others, rubs the wrong way and makes us all look like jerks.

Crimes against Humanity, I'd think then …

For me, an offensive shirt would be one that the user is wearing that:

A: Is torn and ripped and shredded to the point that I see his sweet flab and armpit hairs.

B: So dirty it has it's own special "Aroma".

C: Has blatant curse words on it. I say that because really, people (especially kids) don't need to see that crap at game conventions.

Yup this sums it up quite well.

Oh and yes I have seen all three.

Mithmee22 May 2018 5:52 p.m. PST

Both the Nazis & IJFs did commit many war crimes …

Actually both sides did but certain groups did a far bit more.

Indeed … was not out of character for "some" as opposed to "others" …
