After some deliberation I decided to back Jasco Games' miniature game based on one of my favorite Kung-fu fightin' video games at the $140 USD level. link The minis will be pre-painted which usually is a no-go for me, but they stand 65mm to 85mm tall so I should be able to live with it. Take a look if you're interested: link It's not without risks, but Jasco Games is relatively established in the board game business with 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Mega Man,' which was also realized via KS. |

I'm guessing they won't be covering the excellent movie starring JCVD and Kylie Minogue….. |

I remember that "excellent" 1994 movie all too well, which also starred Raul Julia as M. Bison and Agent of Shield Ming-Na Wen as Chun-Li. |

Wow, those look more like statues! And for that amount, do you at least get a barrel full of Bison Bucks? :) link
linklinkI'll take Bison Dollars any day over the currency used in "Minority Report" (2002) or "Total Recall" (2012). Or any money from the "Lunar State of America" (Pluto Nash, 2002). :) But if the "Raul Julia" figure has his likeness, then I might try to grab that one later. I always liked my paisano and miss him. heh! I'll pass on this one (no need for 65mm miniatures), but check out the kick-starter for "mega: metro-city"… now that is tempting! |

I did check out M:MC and it is tempting. What held me back is that the company, Boombox Games, is new, has never released anything before and this is its first KS campaign. I may still say "What the heck?" and go for it before it ends in 12 days. Leo (Johann) is already unlocked and Dredd (Cyber Cop) will be if it reaches the $88 USDK funding level. We'll see. The Big Boss is freakin' hilarious. What he's clutching with his left hand may be bigger than his Krusty the Clown head. link |

Don't forget Big Trouble in Little China. A lot of Kung-Fu fighting and Kim Catrall … of course ! |

Those baddies in M:MC are the most characterful sculpts I've seen in a long time. I'm almost tempted to get the game just for them. |

28mm Fanatik and Zephyr1: Indeed! I really want to back M:MC, but the am also a bit cautious about the company… I think if 'cyber cop' is unlocked I will go ahead and back it… The big boss is a bit absurd… but hey, I can deal with it. Anyway, not to derail the thread toooo much: Street Fighter may be a great game for some. I have brushed shoulders in the past with a company that makes large street fighter figurines: some of the sculpts seem familiar… whatever that means The whole thing begs the question: How big can gaming miniatures get and still be practical in terms of pricing and scale of represented combat… for 1 on 1 combat, I'm not even sure if miniatures are the way to go, but I could happily play a game of say 5 on 5 or so with 54mm figures…. |

The KS creator Boombox Games canceled MMC (some say prematurely) with 9 days remaining yesterday after a spate of defections from people who backed out which lowered its total below the minimum funding goal of $75 USDK. It's too bad, but I can't say I blame them because they probably saw the writing on the wall. Even if the game gets funded with a final surge of fence sitters like me it's probably going to be far below their expectations. I think many of the people who initially backed it withdrew their support not only because they're new and considered to be high risk, but also because the beta rules look really rough and not well-translated from Spanish. The video with the girl doing a play-through explaining the rules is also heavily accented for English speakers. Anyway, looks like someone else has swooped in after their departure with a similar product called "Streets of Steel": link I missed out on "Street Masters" last year: link so have to hope it will be available at retail sometime in the future. In addition to Street Fighter, Jasco Games plans to launch similar Kickstarters using the same system for Mortal Kombat and Dragon Ball Z so that you can have any cross-over smackdown you want. I wasn't big into MK, but Goku et al will be hard for me to resist. |

Hmmm,Streets of Steel seems alriiiiight, but nowhere as nice as Metro-City looked…. oh well, just saved $100 USD…. |

Yeah, I liked the MMC baddies better also than the Gotham-esque mutie villains in SOS. MMC also had much better board sections, some paying homage to anime like Mobile Suit Gundam and Akira. Hope they bring it back in the future in a more polished form. |

Late pledges are now open for Street Fighter. This game won't be available at retail so this is our last chance. |
