…Wanted Killers In Your Family. "You just wanted to find out if you were Portuguese or Spanish, but instead you found out you were related to a mass murderer. This is a reality in a world where the alleged Golden State Killer, now known as Joseph James DeAngelo, was arrested after DNA found at one of the killer's crime scenes was checked against genetic profiles from genealogical websites that collect DNA samples. Popular genetic testing companies 23andMe and Ancestry.com are holding on to more than information about your family tree, which raises privacy conerns. Experts confirm DNA in these databases can be accessed by law enforcement and third party companies under certain circumstances, revealing intimate information about user's medical history and biological relationships…" Main page link Maybe in the near future all new borns will have their genetic information obtained, and all those who die will have their DNA taken to cross-check against a criminal data-base….? Yeah … I saw that in the news. Got my DNA test back a couple months back. But AFAIK there are no criminals in my family. That being said on 23andMe, there are 845 members(!) who share my DNA. Mostly 3d-6th cousins. Only one 2d cousin. So … at least there is no shortage of my DNA strain. |

hey the testing is voluntary so if you got something to hide don't get tested. |

I feel the advertising emphasis on this topic is NOT all fueled by the desire to know what one's percentages are. There is a desire to create a national DNA database just as suggested by Tango. Remember this is a world where many desire TV surveillance almost everywhere. Can Big Brother be far behind? |

That ship has sailed. Pandora's box is open. The genie is out of the bottle … it's what the Internet was really meant for, once it went "public": YouTube link Dan |

Why do we worry about big bro, when we will stand in line and pay a hundred bucks for the same privilege? |

Just think of the possibilities of planting your enemies' DNA at crime scenes & how easy it now will be to implicate them, even if they were never there… |
