Folks:

I got a chance to interview Nigel P. Marsh about Carnage and Glory, and he answered a bunch of questions about its history, its design, and what we can expect to see in future. Very interesting stuff!

I have and will play C&G – BUT every time I've played
a C&G game, I've had a unit to ROUT W/O DOING ANYTHING !

You read it correctly – no actions, ever, and all of a
sudden they rout.

EVERY game, BTW, not an isolated occurance

You must have a low inspiration level Ed.

Ed

That's cuz I always give you the dregs, usually militia, to command… obviously your personal charisma isn't helping as much as you thought it might!

@ Ed, sounds pretty historical to me.

All kidding aside, It's a great system. Have I had a few hiccups in playing or hosting at conventions? Yes.

I think the bonuses of having a system to track morale, ammo usage and fatigue add a lot of flavor to gaming. The system provides real consequences for players who continuously move and fire at any target available.

I enjoy the ACW, Napoleonic and Pike and Shotte versions. Great interview!

oldnorthstate – not quite. The most dastardly was
in a game you ran at the NC Museum of History. I
had Elite Confederates, defending, in works, and they had
just seen enemy troops rout.

So my Rebs routed too. A 'sympathetic' rout, I
presume, much like a new Daddy-to-be's labor pains.

As far as my charisma goes – that is and will remain
a NEGATIVE number !

A big "+ 1" to the comments by 22nd Foot.

FYI, there are plenty of Carnage and Glory games on the schedule for Historicon 2018 in July. Nigel will be hosting games using the ECW version of his rules.

Hope to see you there.

I'm really itching to try out his On Campaign program.

I've played a lot of C&G games at Cold Wars, Historicon and Fall In, great games that require a different philosophy to rolling dice – remember fatigue!
I have had some odd results go against me but generally it was because I overlooked something obvious…………
