This model doesn't look like the only A7V still in existence (kept outside a museum down the road. I used to see it every morning, driving to work):

Did they vary the body work that much in such a limited production run?

Cool!

Nice dio but if I was their sergeant the troops would get heck for leaving their rifles lying in the mud.

Allen57, Those are German rifles. The French have captured the tank. At least that's what I get outta it! Ochoin, I think that's just the angle of the pic. Very cool Dio I think.

Hey Ochoin,

Every one of the 20 or so A7V was unique, with a few major differences.
‘Mephisto' belongs to the 2nd (or Rochling) batch, the side armour of which consisted of one large piece.

The model in the diorama is one of the first (or Krupp) batch, the side armour was made from five plates bolted together.

The tank in the photo you posted is a reproduction of 563 ‘Wotan' which differs from Mephisto in that it has a different type of mantlet and gun mount.

Thanks, Super Mosca.

OUCH! That's not our Mephisto? Apologies but Mephisto (the real one) lives down the road at our museum.

Some Diggers, evidently, smuggled it onto the boat back from France.

Historically it wouldn't have been 563 'Wotan' though. It was involved in the last battle involving German tanks near Iwuy in October 1918. 'Wotan' survived the battle and was taken back to Charleroi before the war ended.

Lovely diorama irrespective.
