Getting into 6mm ACW and I am looking for regimental level rules. Unless it has been discussed already and someone can point me to the right thread.
Thanks

Fire and Fury Regimental is what I use

We used to use Johnny Reb III as well

Do a search and look at "Severed Union". I'm using Baccus. Two strips on a base. Five bases for a regiment.

I still play with the Rally Round the Flag rules, published circa 1980s, but have tried Stars & Bars, Johnny Reb and the F&F regular and regimental rules, and all have their virtues. However, the set that looks most interesting to me, and most likely to displace Rally as my regular set, are the Pickett's Charge rules by Dave Brown, published by Two Fat Lardies. The command and control system makes for lots of decision-making and priority setting, and result in a good period feel. See: link

If you're into 6mm and willing to consider something in the grand tactical vein, with the brigade as the basic tactical unit, check out Altar of Freedom at: 6mmacw.com

That Severed Union video review didn't say much about the rules at all, it was focused on the pre-painted 10mm minis.

Really any rules that count stands instead of figures, or that use a fixed number of bases (one base, four bases, etc).

I would recommend Black Powder Rules & the Glory, Hallelujah! supplement.

Severed Union 1861-1865. You can download the rules at the bottom of the page.

Hope it helps.

As always, comments are appreciated.

Take care

I have written summaries of a lot of ACW rules here:

Some that might suit are in "19th Century" if they cover multiple periods (Black Powder being an example).

Incidentally, as far as I know Gordon & Hague have been out of business for several years.

Try "Altar of Freedo: Grand Tactical Battles in the American Civil War" -designed for 6mm figures and allows refights of big battles The Web Site has lots of supporting material

As ChrisBrantley states above. It's Rally Round The Flag for me as well. I have not built up my 6mm ACW forces yet, hoping to do so later this year. I may consider changing the measurements to CM from Inches and give that a try. It seemed to work out in my attempts with The Sword & The Flame and still makes for a nice battle in a small area.

You can use any rules you like with 6mm. If they say this size base/measure for 6mm and this for 20mm feel free to ignore them. In fact put 6mm figures on 28mm bases and use the 28mm measurements. Remember vertical scale is always exaggerated. Just less so with smaller figures.
