Mix 'em in the same units for variety, exclusively use one make or the other or use both but in separate units? Any other opinions about the two brands' respective qualities will be appreciated. |

I have both S&S and Trident. While they are very similar in style and height, the Trident seem to be "slimmer". And some of the Trident heads seem to be larger than S and S. For example I think the Trident ACW heads for Black soldiers are somewhat larger then the S and S heads. But I have used Trident heads on S and S in same unit and I think they blend well. So overall I think the 2 can be mixed. Some of the Trident figures do not have slings on their muskets, if that makes a difference for you. I also have some Foundry 40MM ACW, just officers, and they mix well too. Overall I think all 3 brands are very well sculpted. I like painting all of them. |

Very good input, thank you. I dont mind mixing sizes myself. Back in the day, I used 15mm ACW figs from a dozen different manufacturers to make really "ragged" rebel units. Looking for other people's opinions though, of course. Also, what are the qualities like in comparison? Flash? Metal quality? Paint-ability? The Foundry are very nice but I admit the price is off-putting. Did you just buy Foundry mounted officers for some variety? The slings and arrows of outrageous mis-sculpting does not bother me ;)

There are some photos of Ian Smith and Friends' impressive demo game at Salute floating around -- most of the Salute AAR's have plenty of photos. The 40mm ACW game uses mainly S&S but also uses some Foundry as well as HLBS, and perhaps some Trident (I can't really tell since I've not seen them in the flesh). I know gamers (including me) who freely mix S&S and Trident AWI figs, so I assume ACW are just as compatible. Chris |
