So it gets updates from GPS, but if GPS goes down then what? The article reads like a Lockheed PR sheet.

With little armor anymore, modern ships are vulnerable to many things, including a 250 lb. cement bomb dropped from 20,000 feet, which will definitely leave a mark. Modern anti-ship missiles are devastating if they hit their target, but they're not the only things that can knock out modern warships.
