I am taking suggestions for the best 15mm Historical line to represent Riders of Rohan. A Dark Age imagery not movie imagery.

I keep leaning toward Baueda Carolingian line. Combined with Splintered Light's Late Saxon Cavalry.

One of those subjects where no stone has been left unturned, over and over again.

When such thoughts cross my mind I normally look to Gothic types from the Late Roman to early Byzantine period.
War & Empire have useful stuff.

Any Dark Ages cavalry should do…that is what I have used

Back in the 1978 time when a company used historical 15mm for their LotR, Norman's were used for Rohan. Mongols for the men of the east, Arabs for men of the south. Gondor was HYW or Saxons. They were cast on hex bases which often had to be trimmed for historical use, WRG.

War and Empire stuff looks great, I would second Battle Valor though.

The Frigian line has a selection of mounted that is prefect for Rohan.

They also do High Elves and Orcs

a note on Battle valor. I have several packs of there figures and they are excellent figures.

They are on the beefier and taller side of the 15mm spectrum.

I have started collecting Splintered Light which I enjoy a great deal and BV would be big dudes in comparison.

Battle valor and Splinterd light both make great figures and you will not be disappointed in either.

I also suggest Splintered Light, but also have a look at the most excellent Later Germanic cavalry and the early Byzantines from the Late Roman range by Khurasan Miniatures.
