Hundvig Fezian is not a real big fan of pre-painted minis, and he positively despises randomly-packed "collectable" ones - so why is he writing this article?

Hello Everyone,

Today saw the first battle in round 3 of my Hyborian campaign. Asgard vs Zingara. I was scratching my head as to how to logically pit these two geographically remote nations against each other. So I built a longship and had the Asgard army sail down from the cold north to raid.

Here are a few pictures from the battle. It involved massive casualties as warbands went up againt blades and spears.

You can read the battle report over on the blog. The figures are 25mm and mainly Garrison, Minifigs, Ral Partha and Conan is by Heritage.

Hope you enjoy. Comments and crits welcome.

Love it. I always wanted to game this 'period'. I played in an old play by mail campaign. It was OK.
Great pictures Kropotkin.

Thank you Kevin and John,

The Hyborian setting is just a really great theme to play. If you love Conan stories there is the smaller skirmish action and I guess the Crom rules could be great for this, but I imagine Frostgrave and other rules would do just as well, but I like the splendour of armies clashing and HOTT is very good at doing this.

What is also great about Hyboria is that historical proxies abound and these can stand in if you have pre-existing armies.
