I finally was able to get to play my first Bolt Action game yesterday. It was a small game where I took 3 squads of Japanese plus a Mortar and a Machine Gun,and my friend took US Marines with a similar force. This was a meeting engagement with a small village as the objective. I can say it was a very bloody fight where we each lost about two thirds of our forces. It's possible that we got some things wrong since both of us this was our first game but I can say that I did like it and I will play more. The rules were pretty straight forward and I had not much problem understanding them. I regret to say that I didn't take pictures but I'll take many pictures for my second game. |

It's a nice, simple game and a very tough system, so it's easy to make it more historical if that's your preference. |

It gets real interesting when your opponent blows up your tank and you don't have anything left to take out his. Becomes a mad rush for the objectives while trying to ignore his vehicles. But I truly enjoy the dice activation mechanics. I've had some turns end where I'm praying to the RNG Gods to give me my die next because I need to take this shot. Or maybe I think I should take this shot, right after this one. He won't assault. Somehow my bad luck with D6's carries over to my order dice. Nothing motivates the s like a Soviet Commissar right next to the bag. Everybody needs a little "motvation". |
