Whilst the rest of the UK wargaming population were at Salute a fw of us fought out Jutland at the local pub. An excellent and very successful day unless you were a sailor on a light cruiser, or Beatty :) Details here: link

Interesting AAR. Will your fast play WW1 rules be available some day? One of the problems when gaming Jutland is the shear size of the fleets and the resultant gaming area, even with 1/6000 scale models. Have you ever tried "Bathtubbing" Jutland with say one or two ships representing a homogeneous battle squadron? |

BigRed, yes we are just sorting out some of the LFE from the game and tweaking the rules a bit. With luck and a following wind they will be available through Wargame Vault in the not too distant future. I've not tried "bathtubbing" but its a good idea, I may well give it a go next time. I recall one of Paul Hague's naval wargaming books effectively did that with one BB/BC model actually representing two ships in his WW1 rules. |

So the performance of the British battlecruisers will improve in subsequent encountered now that they are not encumbered by The Bogtrotter ;-) I live in Gloucestershire 30 years ago, it was a wargaming desert. So bad this club wasn't active then. (Rather like the NWS getting a presence in Trowbridge after I left Bradford-on-Avon).

Paul Hague: best Jutland ever. (So far – I haven't seen DM's new ones yet …) |
