Another question came to me which is how many Bolt Action Armies do you have out there.

For myself I have the following?

Japanese
German
Soviets
British
American
Italian

For myself the Japanese and Americans are my biggest with the Germans and Soviets following up.

My Italians are my smallest with only 2 squads and 2 armored vehicles.

I do plan on getting some French and build up on some of my excisting armies.

Now as of now I've not had a chance to play any BA games but that'll change this Saturday when I get to use my Japanese and US Maines in 2 small games and I plan on taking some pictures as well.

US (1944-45 European Theater)

Japanese
US Marines
Early War French
Early War Germans
Mid/Late War Germans
Early War British

Pretty good sized Japanese, USMC, and Early French forces completed with supports, vehicles, etc.

Still working on expanding the Germans (early/mid/late). I have the vehicles, but need more infantry (in my opinion).

Need to really expand the Early War British.

Technically none because I don't play Bolt Action but if I did it would be

I have Japanese. I hope to do Partisans later this year.

andysyk11 Apr 2018 12:45 p.m. PST

None although I have plenty of WWII historically based PL/COYS. However they do not convert well to BA as they would perform very poorly in the system. Which means all the armies in WWII got it wrong or………..

:)))
I have 20 & 28mm collections to play WW2 skirmish actions with.
The 20mm forces – NW Europe, and Eastern Front – which were bought and painted way before Bolt Action ever came around, but since they were organized to standard TOEs, they work with BA too (that's the way us old gamers went about building our "armies"). ;)

4 squads FFL.
4 squads Ramke.
4 squads of U.S.
Plus enough support equipment for 2 platoons each force (ATGs, MMGs, mortars, many officers and NCOs, specialist troops etc.)
About 200 tanks and armored cars and trucks and 1/2 tracks. (About 140 painted.)
Got rid of all my other theater troops. Concentrating on just N. Africa. Had maybe 150 Russians and 120 or so Germans.

The Bolt Action gaming scene is rolling again around here now; so in addition to my old and large Canadian force, i've recently added Germans for a matched-pair.

And it looks like the North African theatre will be heating up with new releases in September from Warlord, so I've just begun ordering stuff to build Free French for North Africa.

Dukewilliam13 Aug 2018 4:18 p.m. PST

Americans
Germans
Soviet Union
Italian
Japanese

Of all of them, the Italians can fight any of the others and stay historical. The Italians and Japanese had a few dust ups around the Italian consulate in Hong Kong, I think.

uglyfatbloke20 Aug 2018 7:09 a.m. PST

SWMBO has now also acquired winter US and Germans for 1944.

Am valiantly attempting to avoid any acquisitions for Seabees until the Free French are on the gaming table!

uglyfatbloke26 Aug 2018 12:48 p.m. PST

We also use BA for Vietnam.

joedog26 Aug 2018 10:29 p.m. PST

Starting work on early war (Blitzkrieg Germans and BEF British) with two forces (not a lot of local gamers, but with two armies, I can invite someone to play). Somehow ended up with some US and Chindits boxes (clearance sale), plus the US Airborne from the starter box.

We're going to have a shot at Commonwealth intervention in NEI/Indonesia…that's got to be unusual! We also use Bolt Action for 1944-5 in 54mm and we have used it for SWMBO's Indian Mutiny collection with the normal unit being a 12 to 16 figure 'company' which has worked remarkably well.
