Some believe that Oswald (and perhaps others) was backed by organized crime, eager to shut down Attorney General Robert Kennedy's mafia investigations. How likely do you think this is? |

Personally, I reject all of the various conspiracies so I'd say 0% |

I wouldn't be surprised. The mafia has its hands in many things. Even the great Frank Sinatra had ties with them. Speaking of the JFK assassination, I just saw the miniseries 11-22-63 a couple of weeks ago. It's based on a Stephen King novel. |

"Some believe that Oswald (and perhaps others) was backed by organized crime, eager to shut down Attorney General Robert Kennedy's mafia investigations." Some people believe the world is flat. You can find someone who believes anything if you look around a little. |

Robert's dad, Joe Kennedy, was mobbed up to his eyeballs. He made his fortune running rum during Prohibition. Then he used his connections to ensure that Chicago and thus Illinois went for JFK in 1960. Bobby hounded organized crime as a counsel to the Kefauver commission. Then JFK appointed him Attorney General where he continued. The Mob had multi millions "invested" in casinos in Cuba. JFK pulled the rug out from under the admittedly incompetently managed Bay of Pugs fiasco. All things considered, the Mob had very good reason to consider themselves betrayed by the Kennedys. Not to mention some humiliation of the New Orleans and Tampa bosses. IF there was a conspiracy, the Mob was far more likely to do it than anyone else. IF. >cough cough< Jack Ruby. >cough cough< |

Didn't we just do this topic, or are we going to have a thread for each potential theory? That could be a lot of threads…. |

No, I don't go in for conspiracy theories at all on the JFK assassination. |

As I said on another post … I've always thought Oswald's "miraculous" shooting capabilities with a Carcano Carbine was "suspect" … Of course I'm "suspect" of some of the other "theories" as well. E.g. the mob, rogue CIA, even the USSR, etc., … I think similarly about RFK's death … just one nut job with a gun and some reasons he "constructed" in his warped mind. We've seen this all before, and probably will again. Albeit in some cases it may be a little more difficult today. E.g. John Lennon, MLK and some other assassinations or attempts at passed POTUS, etc., etc., … Never underestimate some who are so "certain", so "sure" they are "correct" in their actions no matter what. E.g. ISIS, AQ, IRGC, Hezbollah, Neo-Nazis, etc. |

More importantly for this forum who has gamed the assassination with miniatures? Validity of the thread aside, three letters: L, B, J. No one need look further :) |

Nope, I say Aristotle Onassis, so he could later marry Jackie. That's my Agatha Christie solution. |

At one time, back when the History Channel (sic) actually showed "history"*, it had at least 4 mutually contradictory hour long shows on the JFK assassination. My favorite one was the Marseille Mob. No wonder the grassy knoll never shows up in photos. It was so crowded with assassins, it was almost like a class photo. I spotted Forrest Gump and Zelig. * The History Channel showing History was around the same time MTV featured music. |

Maybe it's connected to both Cubans and the mafia. Tony Montana takes no prisoners, no? |

* The History Channel showing History was around the same time MTV featured music. Seems like a very, very long, long time ago … In a galaxy far, far away … |

That was (about a decade ago?) back when TLC was really The Learning Channel, before all the "live tv" shows about UFO conspiracies, Hillbillies, motorcycles, catfish wranglers and gator hunters on all those which were once fairly decent documentary channels. Now most people in the big coastal cities think that's what all people in "flyover country" look like, dress like, live like, think, talk and do. And most urbanites took to calling "redneck" just about everyone who doesn't think like they do in their city, even if the outsider is of a completely different ethnicity. Dan |

Winston: "No wonder the grassy knoll never shows up in photos. It was so crowded with assassins, it was almost like a class photo. I spotted Forrest Gump and Zelig." With all the alleged assassins pounding around the place, the grassy knoll would quickly have become the barren depression… |

Plenty of plausible theories. If Oswald could have done it then so could many others. Multiple shooters is plausible but that doesn't necessarily mean there was a conspiracy between them. The usual line is that with multiple shooters that is proof of a conspiracy. Why? It's very hard to understand where truth and fact lie and fiction begins. Oswald failed a paraffin test or did he, ad infinitum… |
