So the other day I perused one of the glossy Future Publishing History Mags:
1066 The Battle of Hastings
link
Now, I have seen these before glossy, lots of pictures, looks like a PC game magazine (as expected from this publisher), obviously targeting kids and such.
Now while I applaud the effort to make the topics jump out at kids and get them interested in history, I am torn because the magazine appears to be full of Googled snippets of information and often they are flat out wrong in the history and facts.
The one I mention above describes how the Saxons did great damage to the Normans at Hastings with their longbows and how the longbow was a key weapon at that battle.
So while I like more publications about history and trying to reach out to new audiences, these seem to be filled with errors. Maybe not the best way to teach History?
Also, it seems like none of the various articles have Authors or am I missing something? Seems like a collection of clips off the internet with flashy pictures (computer generated) slapped together and sold for $20 USD a shot.
Anyone else taken a look at these?
