"In noteworthy but not exactly surprising news, the third and final film of the new Star Wars trilogy will see the two main heroes back together again. One of the major points of anticipation for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was seeing the new characters that J.J. Abrams was introducing to the Star Wars universe. Chief among them was Rey (Daisy Ridley), the protagonist of this new trilogy, and Finn (John Boyega), a former stormtrooper who turns his life around. The Force Awakens was very much about the relationship between Rey and Finn as the "new heroes," in some scenes echoing the thoughts and feelings of Star Wars fans themselves. But in last year's sequel, The Last Jedi, our heroes were torn apart. This wasn't a massive surprise since that's pretty much storytelling 101. Introduce your characters, throw in a complication that splits them up, then in the final act bring them back together again. Still, this proved a bit frustrating for fans in The Last Jedi, as Rey and Finn didn't have much screentime together at all. By the film's end (spoiler alert), we finally had Rey and Finn back together, and Boyega confirmed at AwesomeCon (via /Film) that Star Wars: Episode IX will feature plenty of Rey/Finn action…." Characters that suck will be reunited in a movie I plan to skip. I already saw the last Star Wars movie for me. Fool me once… |

Yep – another pointless film. Quickly killing off a once great franchise… |

But TFA directed by Abrams was considered to be good. Only TLJ was maligned by SW fans. |

Almost walked out, as about half way through I realized I was too old for the movie. Bad. Bad story, Bad acting. |

But TFA directed by Abrams was considered to be good. Only TLJ was maligned by SW fans TFA was given a nostalgia-driven pass, but on second viewing it's hollow. Combined, TFA and TLJ actually make the prequels look good. They were corny and flat, but were at least genuine in their sentiment and made some sense in the universe. These last two are needlessly ironic and apparently self-conscious of having real emotion, as well as nonsensical in plot. |

I do plan on seeing Episode IX regardless of what anyone says otherwise. |

I wasn't impressed by their "chemistry" in the first film, haven't seen the second and am not excited about the third. Meh! |

So far, I am feeling underwhelmed by the new SW movies. Neither the new trilogy nor Rogue One have made an impression. Watchable, but without emotion. |

My initial response to the the thread title was, "in other news, the sun will rise tomorrow!" Turns out that in the third film of this sub-trilogy they will move towards a conclusion. I bet they stop the first order, too. And anyone who bets against the ultimate redemption of what's-his-name hasn't seen all the other films. Now that certain characters and a certain actor are unlikely to appear (I'm avoiding spoilers!) I'm not sure what the point it, but I'll still go. If I suffered through the prequels I can handle episode "IX". I don't feel connected to Star Wars anymore, but not going would feel wrong. Maybe they're saving all the good material for the Han Solo film! It would be great if that film were great. I know everyone is pessimistic, and I guess I share that, but wouldn't it be great if that film were great? That would be great. |

Come on guys; you want wooden acting, immature plots and sub-par action scenes, take a critical look at Star Wars (I refuse to call it Ep. IV, or a New Hope – Star Wars is what it was called when I saw it). Sir Alec, Peter Cushing, and the Voice of James Earl Jones shone 'way brighter than the "heroes". So stop whining, it is what it is. |

Dezmond it's not so much of what I feel is right it's what I like and that's what counts. For me there's only 3 things that I really hate regarding Star Wars, the first one is that gold-plated droid, the second is Ewoks and lastly that God-Awful Holiday special which I only saw once and never saw it again. Other that those 3 things I'm good with all other things Star Wars. |

Maybe it will finally end. Wow. What a phenomenal way to crush a franchise. Incredible really. The only reason I watch anything on this topic now is the same fascination one has reading/watching a documentary on how XYZ horrible event happened and the factors that contributed to this mass event. It's like watching a civilization crumble in slow motion. |
