Anyone look at Warlord's 10 figure package of metal BEF infantry? Are they decent figures? How about accuracy of the uniform details?

Thanks,
Andy

I don't profess to be an expert on the uniform, but from the pictures I've seen from the period they look pretty good. The sculpts have full kit, gasmask cases on the chest. A good mix of poses, all with separate heads. There are 20 heads, 2 officers – 1 clean shaven the other with a moustache, 2 with side caps – 1 with glasses, 2 bare heads – 1 bandaged, the rest have helmets – some with cammo netting some without, all with character faces. The Boyes A/T rifle is moulded with the fired but with a separate bipod. The MMG gunner is in 2 parts, legs moulded with the tripod base which includes the water can and the top half holding the mg, a separate loader has the ammo box and belt moulded in a single cast. A prone figure holds the light mortar and a kneeling figure is loading a round. There is a prone helmeted observer with binoculars to go with the MMG. The rest are standing or advancing with a Bren and rifles, the officer figure has a pistol. They are standard Warlord size, perhaps a little bulky, but that may be due to style of the uniform. All in all a pretty good set.

Funny I was about to ask a similar question, which figures would match best heft, size or style wise with the Warlord BEF?
Is is Crusader , Artizan, Foundry or something else?

For me Artizan are a little chunky. I have the old Foundry Home Guard figures and they are pretty similar to the Warlord figures. I don't have any Crusader figures, so can't comment.

Sigh, I've always felt this is a bit of a holy grail, getting good BEF nowadays.

If you like the Warlord sculpting style, then you will probably like these. I have some and would have preferred them not to have the gas-armband (a minor quibble) and less cartoony faces. IT is a fairly complete range though.

I am still hoping Crusader will release a 'proper' BEF range as his Early War British aren't BEF. They have the wrong entrenching tool and don't have the gas mask on the chest (a rather iconic feature of the BEF I think). As Crusader have been pumping out some really nice Early War figures, I hope these could be on the cards. I'd buy them as soon as they came out…

I have the warlord BEF in my hands now.

They are nice enough sculpts but absolute giants. 30mm foot to head and easily twice the heft of recent Warlord Brit Commandos I purchased.

The Bren gun is twice the size of other brens though nicely sculpted.

Personally I would not mix them with Artizan, Westwind, Foundry or Warlord!

They may mix with Crusader (entrecnhing tool noted) I do not own any of their figures or Gorgon – the Gorgon I have seen were too big to mix with anything else but maybe now?
