hi, did african troops (e.g. KAR) get Denison smocks? I wanted to convert Warlords plastic paras to some native troops. Thanks |

I know that the Kenyan airborne forces wore them in the 60s and 70s, I've just looked on the net and it seems these are the same ones used in the filming of "The Wild Geese". India also made its own copy of the Denison, I should imagine they were exported to various countries who wanted to claim they had a parachute capability. |

As Foxweasel said lots of use postwar, this review has some good info link And the Denison Smock Wiki page is quite good. However during the war I don't think any African Troops were issued it. The only Commonwealth troops issued it on masse was the Indian Parachute units but they left all their Airborne Uniform, Smocks, Helmets etc in depot at Assam before deploying operationally. |
