Stunning! Fantastic looking figures and talent. Never seen those figures before. See if I can get a pack and see if I can do even half as well as your painting! Erik |

They look amazing. I love the Imperial Cuirassiers in all eras- Christopher Duffy says that their nickname in their own army in the SYW was 'the smashers' (Schmeissiere)- although I think that term also means 'the plasterers'- as in the guys who make your walls look smooth. One point about the very nice looking trumpeter in his rather exotic Hungarian style costume- I think that comes from a Knotel plate based on an early c18th illustration- I forget the details of the original. But, I think that it actually only applied to a particular regiment (Palffy perhaps?) which had a Hungarian Inhaber. I think that other Imperial Cuirassier regiments of the time had their musicians dressed more conventionally in brimmed hats/tricornes. Against the Ottomans at this period I think the Cuirassiers sometimes wore extra metallic protection for the bridle arm at least- TYW style. |

From the link: For some reasons I always think the Austrians don't get a fair kick at the ball. Overshadowed in their wars with the Turks by the ever so romantic and dramatic Poles (The Bill Nighys to Daniel Craig) I had to chuckle when I read that. Well done. And beautiful painting too! |

Just considering whether to get them back on the table for Partizan in May – we may re run the participation game based on the Grand National. |
