Good day all, Having had a 2mm TYW project on the back burner for years, nay decades!, I have finally struck a blow. I decided to add a slightly whimsical aspect to the project by basing using some of the deployments in 17th manuals such as William Bariffe's 'Military Discipline, for the Young Artilleryman' (1657). I appreciate many of these formations may have been largely theoretical, but it was an interesting exercise nonetheless. More on my blog: link My thanks to Sydeny Roundwood for the inspiration I have drawn from his excellent TYW projects. Cheers Alan

That is very cool looking! I have been tempted at this scale in the past. I love the look of the terrain at 2mm. Please keep updating this project. Great stuff. |

Quite a few years back I tried to do Renaissance Principles of War in 2mm using a 2/3 size base. The results are here … link Hardly ended up playing with them at all as I was the only one in our group who did anything in 2mm and nobody else particularly fancied the period much either. It is still one of very few periods we have never done. ECW being the closest. 2mm on larger bases can look pretty impressive and I like your idea of copying period illustrations. tony of TTT |

Interesting, Tony. Thank you for sharing that. |

Thanks all – your kind words are appreciated. I will certainly keep updating! Tony, thanks for linking to your article – I have read through many of your posts on 2mm gaming and have always found it a really useful site. I think I discounted Renaissance Principles of War as I couldn't get PDF and postage is a killer to Australia, but I think they might be the way to go – all I'd have to do is re-base artillery and Reiters. Very possible at this early stage. Food for thought Cheers Alan |

Hi all, I'm currently working on a new line of 2mm Renaissance figures that is pretty revolutionary for the scale, in more ways than one. I'm using Shapeways to create a range of nearly 1:1 ground scale figures that lets me model a wide variety of tactical deployments. Here is one example:
On this model, each of the 600 pike tips is individually, separately visible. This is the newer, improved version of my original 2mm pike and shot range. Here is a painted version of the old range:
The new range is slightly larger, and more robust that the old one. I think it's an improved product. Anyway, I intend to add many more tactical deployments over the summer. All of my models are based on period woodblock cuttings, with the end goal of allowing players to wield table-top armies that look like 3d version of the woodblocks. So far its a great success. Anyway, drop me a line at my blog if you have any questions or requests for deployments/tactical formations you'd like to see. link |

I very much like the look of the 2mm minis in this scale. |

Thanks! Does anyone on here know the ratio of pike to shot at Marston Moor? I might do a set for that battle because, (1) I think it'd be cool and, (2) I think people would be interested in picking them up if its available. I was thinking 60mm strips that are 1/3 pike, 2/3 shot? If anyone wants to follow what I'm doing, you can check out my store here: link New stuff will be popping up pretty regularly over the next few weeks and into the summer. I was busy at school for the last several months but now I have some time to whip the store into shape and enact some much-needed changes to the figures. |

I think a 60mm strip with 1/3 pike would be good, as a general standard, if you could get 60 minis in each rank and form them up 6 ranks deep. |
