..which current multirole fighter would they buy / lease.

I'm thinking either the F-16 or the Gripen?

What do you think?

(accepting that NATO provides air cover through the BAP mission but that Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia combine resources to fund their own joint capability, just to show they mean it)

I think the F16E/F (block 60+) would be the best bet. I think Gripens are nearly the same price to buy, though I think Gripens may be cheaper to run.

That's what I thought especially if they could get second hand JAS-39 C Gripens from the Swedish Air Force? I think all three of the Baltic States have shown interest in the Gripen but also the F-16, which is what the Poles and Danes opted for.
