Skirmishes. Never more than 60 models per side, preferably 5-10. |

It's interesting that in the AWI small important battles by European standards would be considered "skirmishes". Trenton? Cowpens? Kings Mountain? Even Yorktown would scarcely get a mention. So, I guess I play skirmish battles. |

I define "skirmish" as 1:1 figure ratio. So for use 95% battles with most of the skirmishes being ships. |

Battles, but smallish. For horse & musket, brigade to division. For WWII, regiment/brigade. |

A mix. I tend to favor big battles (Warmaster) over skirmishes, but I do both. Couldn't guess at a percentage. It's all subject to the whims of the moment. Of course, my painted figures favor battles (Warmaster again). Not sure how Wings of Glory, X-Wing, Ogre and the like count, as these are essentially 1:1 scale, but aren't really the "skirmish" type feel. Conceptually, GOBS is a "battle" set for large fleets, but it's also 1:1, and let's be real: even a large fleet of tabletop spaceships would be actually quite diminutive compared to naval fleet actions of the 20th century, or even the conceptualized battles presented in space opera. And do dungeon crawls count as skirmishes, or are they something entirely different? |

Depends where I'm playing. Club nights when everything has to be set up and taken down on the night, mostly skirmish. At friends with a permanent set up, mostly battles. |

In ACW, big battles only. Ancients, 50/50. WW2, 10mm for large tank/infantry battles, 28mm for infantry heavy skirmishes, about 70/30 battles/skirmish |
TMPWargamerabbit | 31 Mar 2018 7:45 a.m. PST |
High percentage are historical battles, then pick up battle games. Skirmishing scenario maybe 10% of the total games. Say 70% Historical structured scenarios Then 20% non historical or "pick up" scenarios Leaves the final 10% for all other gaming, including skirmish level actions…. like Bolt Action or a rare naval ship on ship game. |

I fight battles. My games can last 150 bounds and cover suppy, organization of artillery assets etc. The fact that at any one time there may be no more than a company or two involved actually on table fighting is here nor there. A few hours fighting does not a battle make. Big battles take time for the protagonist to establish the battlefield and time after to gain the final resolution. |
