Note!
This is NOT POLITICS! At least by the TMP definition. Since it occurred more than 10 years ago, its fair game.
As much as I dislike the Kennedys, I'll wait until it's free On Demand.
As an aside, I saw a graffiti in a Wilkes Barre men's room: "Ted Kennedy kills girls from Larksville." Not quite, but close. It was Plymouth.

But anyway. I was listening to an ad for it on the radio. Besides the usual blah blah blah about "disturbing images", it also had a warning that the movie contained "historical smoking".
Does that mean we have to ban Casablanca?

it also had a warning that the movie contained "historical smoking".

I saw that. Why wasn't I warned that Game of Thrones would have "historical eviscerations and immolations"? And, here I am so young and impressionable!

Well, maybe one out of two.

I recently watched a re-run of the major news networks reporting on the assassination of JFK (another Kennedy who slept around). ALL the anchors had ashtrays on their desks and were puffing away on heaters as they did the news. One guy had two cigs burning in the ashtray and one dangling out of his mouth as he reported the news. The times have changed indeed.

Whew. At least it is "Historical Smoking". With the Kennedy family involved, it could well have been "Ahistorical Smoking".

I think the Chappaquidick incident is better suited to a role-playing game than a miniatures game.

LARPing is right out.

"it also had a warning that the movie contained "historical smoking". "

Stay away from your TV screen; Second-hand historical smoke can be dangerous to your health… huh?

Zephyr1-
OK, you got me. I laughed out loud.

Cacique Caribe30 Mar 2018 9:59 p.m. PST

LOL. Historical smoking? So pot and crack are ok? :)

What about historical drinking?
Historical dancing?
Historical examples of overdress?
Historical religion?
Historical patriotism? (Warning: the nation's flag will be shown. Turn away if the images are too intense)
Historical attempts at making marriage and family work?
Historical attempts at using cleaner language in music?
Are those and other warnings next?

Dan
PS. I'd like some warnings to come on modern shows, but I know the difference between want and need.

At a Who concert a couple of years ago they put up a message screen that said "Roger is allergic to smoke, so please stick to the brownies". No danger from 2nd hand crumbs.

"Historical eating of fried food/starches/carbs" should make the list fairly soon. Or maybe just "non-Vegan food" will get there first.

Zephyr131 Mar 2018 2:46 p.m. PST

"Historical dancing?"

Well, the dancing at the party in "It's a Wonderful Life" is pretty bad (as my parents, who grew up in that era, pointed out… ;-)
