Which U.S. President(s) would you most like to include in your Pulp campaign? |

Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger: He was our Governator and only a technicality kept him from the Presidency. In a Pulp Universe, he got elected. |

Herbert Hoover, an engineer, designed the defenses of Tientsin during the Boxer Rebellion. He might be engaged in some engineering project. William Howard Taft weighed in at 350 pounds (about 159 kg, or 25 stone for those in Britain who have not yet accepted the metric system), impressive even for a wargamer, and might make for some comic relief as the boat lists, the elevator creaks, or the rope starts to fray. "Silent Cal" Coolidge was one of the first politicians to make use of radio. Grelber

I would agree on Teddy Roosevelt. I even have a TR figure in my "great white" hunters collection. Jim |

Oh, Teddy Roosevelt, definitely. Not sure any of the others qualify. |
Winston Smith | 24 Mar 2018 7:33 p.m. PST |
Woodrow Wilson as a Sinister Overlord. |

Jimmy Carter, he worked for peanuts… and his family brought their own beer. Bill Clinton, he brought his own cigars… and humidor. |

John F Kennedy. His father was a rum runner. He slept with both Nazi and Commie spies, and mafia gun molls. War hero who managed to get his boat run over by a boat slower than his. It don't no pulpier than that. |

Really, any of them, but to pick a few gems … James Garfield – wrote an original proof of the Pythagorean Theorem while in Congress (a big deal, considering the hundreds and hundreds of already known proofs) and got "elected" president later. I'm not saying it's a Cthuloid summoning diagram … or the Illuminati entrance exam …
Ulysses S Grant – He drank because of what he saw. Not the carnage of war … that other thing …

TR of course ! Brian Keith as Teddy in "The Wind And The Lion" was subline, inspired, etc. ! He was a better TR than TR was ! John F Kennedy. His father was a rum runner. He slept with both Nazi and Commie spies, and mafia gun molls. War hero who managed to get his boat run over by a boat slower than his. You are right on ! You couldn't write a character in a novel as "pulpy" as JFK ! |

"John F Kennedy. His father was a rum runner. He slept with both Nazi and Commie spies, and mafia gun molls. War hero who managed to get his boat run over by a boat slower than his." AND… he could drive all the way across a given bridge without getting anyone killed. |

I actually use George Washington in some of our AWI/Sci-Fi games. Think Sleepy Hollow (the TV Show) mixed with some steampunk/supernatural aspects, and a little Assassin's Creed. TR for traditional Pulp is a must, and I think JFK is perfect for some 50's-60's spy thriller games. |

You could even include FDR … as an all-knowing benevolent "Pops" figure*, but participating mostly via radio or PA speakers (or electronic implants), coming on spontaneously throughout the game to give instructions and encouragement to his agents/subjects in the field. You could even have everyone in the game temporarily freeze when his voice comes on the air. :) Dan * Like "benevolent" Mom from MomCorp in Futurama: link link |

John Quincy Adams, and we all why! |

TR Brian Keith was awesome and strangely, Robin Williams in Night at the Museum was really good as TR also. Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter, 'nuff said. DT as the money man who makes things happen behind the scenes and gets involved from time to time. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Some pulp heroes one looks like a young TR. link |
Dr Argent | 25 Mar 2018 9:31 p.m. PST |
Vladimir Putin, behind the scenes Mastermind and leader of an Assassin Ring. And skilled at bare chested horse-back riding. Going shirtless is a true Pulp trait. |
Legion 4 | 26 Mar 2018 6:52 a.m. PST |
Robin Williams in Night at the Museum was really good as TR also. I think so too. And Tom Beranger in the TNT mini-series "Rough Riders" also did a good portrayal. link Even though there were some clear additions of some inaccuracies … Milius the credited writer of Rough Riders also did The Wind And The Lion. Which as we know that too had some inaccuracies and "dramatic license" … Still both are worth watching and entertaining … |
