I love the story of the Fall of Tyre.

The Babylonians gave it a shot a few centuries before, and failed. That's why Tyre felt so secure in their navy and their relative distance from land.

That, and similar other examples, taught me long ago never to say "impossible". Or "inconceivable". Improbable, perhaps, but not impossible.
