Trying to see if Spithead Naval Minis (formerly part of Pithead) is still operating anywhere. I need to get some of their ACW ironclads.

The Pithead site has been down since mid-January, but is expected to be back up "some day": TMP link

The email address posted to all of the Pithead sites is vanilla55@sky.com if you want to try to arrange an order that way.

Phil (vanilla55@sky.com) has always provided me with excellent service. Highly recommend ordering from him.

Spithead Miniatures are still making ship models, however the website that we were using is now no longer running so effectively we have no shop window. I suggest that if you are interested in buying models then get in contact with us via the Pithead website and we can send you a price list out and any pictures that you request. The company makes the largest and most comprehensive range of 1/1200 scale Civil War models available and we are still expanding our ranges to include the more obscure nations of the Ironclad period.

If anyone is interested in seeing pictures of the new Lissa 1/1200 scale Italian ironclad prototypes then please contact me personally at vanilla55@sky.com and I will send you copies of the pictures. Customers who have already purchased the Austrian Ironclad set will be given priority for these new models when they are released but I would like to gauge the level of interest in this project before going ahead with making the wooden warship sets for this battle.

Below are photos of the Austrian ironclads (already in production) and the Italian ironclads (proposed, above) for the Battle of Lissa, 1866:

If you want these and/or the wooden ships to go with them, please do contact him. I want them all, so I would be happy if Phil got inundated with email. grin

I have received emails from people pointing out that Principe Di Carignano had a ram bow. Well no, she didn't actually, I have used the drawings supplied by the Italian Navy to make this model and if you look carefully at the photos of the ship and her sister ship, then you can plainly see she had no ram bow fitted. There are a lot of inaccurate drawings of her out there, so be aware.

A big thank you for those of you who supported this range of 1/1200 scale Lissa ships, without your help the range would have never seen the light of day. I am happy to say that such was the demand for these models, the first 12 sets were sold out in only a few days of their release and we are now looking for supporters for the second batch of models. The vessels of the Austrian second division will be on sale in August followed by a further two sets containing Albini's Italian Frigates and hopefully the rest of the Lissa ships, including the scouting paddle steamers and Austrian third division.
