Solo World War II Air Combat Miniature Game Rules and Aircraft Element Sheets Soon to Be Available for Sale On-Line in PDF Format. For 1 or More Players. Why So Many Differing Aircraft Types? Every pilot wished to fly an aircraft with four rapid firing 30 mm heavy cannon, each gun fed by a magazine holding 500 rounds, protected by one thousand pounds of armor plating while carrying 700 gallons of fuel stored within internal self-sealing tanks feeding a 3500-horsepower engine built into a robust airframe with the ability to out-turn a Nakajima Oscar, out-climb a ME 109, out-dive a P-47 Thunderbolt, out-roll a FW 190 and out-run a late model Spitfire or Mustang. Plus 250 hours of instructional training in this type of aircraft. Aircraft designers and aeronautical engineers worked tirelessly to fulfill such wishes. Using the materials at hand, existing technology and the manufacturing base available to them, each country produced aircraft that were the best they could offer at a particular moment in time for their pilots to fly. That is why all aircraft are not created equal and each aircraft is the result of many compromises. The following rules introduce aircraft performance and pilot quality criteria to the game. Each aircraft type suffers or benefits from the following traits; Type of armament LMG, HMG, Cannon, Heavy Cannon. Type of rounds and the number of each type of rounds. Airframe Robustness. Pilot Armor. Speed at Altitude. Climb at Altitude. Performance Above 40,000 feet. Roll Characteristics at speed and altitude. Turn Characteristics at speed and altitude. Maximum Dive Speed. Dive and Level Speed Acceleration. Pilot Quality. Pilot Visibility. Type of Gunsight, Type of Radio. Ease of Throttle Quadrant Control. Reclined Pilot Seating or G-Suit Availability. Gun Platform. Prone to gun jams? Computing Gun Sight. Game details that are non-aircraft, yet damage influenced; Pilot Wounds. Bail-outs. Landings. Stalls. Collisions. Spins and recoveries. Point blank attacks. Player/Pilot Input Player/Pilot Physical Skills/Touch are Paramount. Player/Pilot Decisions are Every Bit as Important. All things being equal, the Aircraft Makes the Difference! I'm in. Tell me more. How do the solo rules work? When will this be released? Any pix of the counters? |
King Cobra | 20 Mar 2018 5:10 p.m. PST |
I'm working hard to meet the submital deadline for the game at Origins 2018 this summer in Columbus, OH. The rules work the same solo or multiple. Solo? Unable to cheat. Outcome? Historically accurate yet with the chance of an unpredictable outcome. Any student of the narrow margin of victory will appreciate the nuance. I'll have to figure out how to attach a counter to this website. A simple Paste did not work. But there are over 216 different images in case you do not own 216 miniature aircraft models. |

Good luck. It certainly seems very ambitious. |

Thanks King Cobra, I'll be on the lookout for it. |

Even as a solo game which I would be very interested in the multiple stats propsed are too complicated for my tastes. |

I'll be interested in seeing more about this too. I do have a couple questions: - Does a player control one plane or could they control multiple planes? - Are there any planes to add bombers or attack planes? Thanks, Dave |

I'll have to figure out how to attach a counter to this website. 1. On the TMP home page, scroll down to Masthead and click on "Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)". 2. On the The TMP FAQ page click "5. Formatting". 3. Scroll down to "Images". I'd like to see more on this too. |

Allen57; Multiple Stats? 4" x 8" about covers it all per aircraft. No searching all over for the proper chart. Complicated? I don't believe so, but then I've lived with this project since 2005. I've worked hard to un-complicate the game. daveshoe; Multiple aircraft, and yes to plans concerning bombers and attack a/c. mjkerner, coopman, Walking Sailor; Thanks for your interest. Bye the bye, this game plays just as well UN-Solo 1 or more players (the joy of watching your live opponent's reaction as their aircraft plummets towards the planet Earth). KC |

Might I also suggest stats for the Curtis CW 21/22 for the Dutch in the Far East. |

Certainly ambitious. Am interested. More power to you! Joe |

PVT641-Just when I thought I'd modelled a comprehensive list, someone needs a Demon!! 🤨 Good chance of it being produced but I'm working on the Fiat G.50 line at the moment with the Reggiane line next. |

King Cobra, Do you have any updates on when the rules will be available or reports from Origins? Thanks, Dave |

Dave, Body of E-mail sent to Sales at GAMA sent April 2, 2018 ---------------------------------------------- to sales I'm contacting you today to clear up a discrepancy about the date of the Company Event Submissions Deadline. The 2018 Origins Game Fair Exhibitor Packet states the deadline is April 20, 2018. The Origins Game Fair Exhibitor page states the deadline is April 2, 2018. Best Regards, ---------------------------------------- This was sent after failing to reach them by phone during their working hours. GAMA has not responded to this day and I could not meet the April 2nd deadline. I had been rushing to meet the April 20th deadline. I'm not a member of GAMA at this time and perhaps only companies who are members of this organization warrant a response or are eligible to exhibit their wares. This is a blessing because the game was ready to show and play but not ready to supply in any quantity on demand. My time since then has been spent screwing the bolts into the nuts of a website and e-commerce platform so I can reliably deliver a game to the marketplace. |
