Second outing for my 54mm British and Afghans last night as the Pathans chased the British back to an outpost where they attempted to make a last stand…

We used The Men Who Would Be Kings and there are some thoughts on the rules as well as the AAR.

Cheers

Agreed!

Nice AAR – great to see the "big boys" in action

Some deep inspiration there. I always love seeing photos of games in the big scale. Thanks very much for sharing!

Love it! I am also doing NWF in 54mm using pretty much the same figs. i picked up AiP's Afghan Fort too. I had been thinking about using TMWWBK for it. Now I see it seems to work just fine.

Thanks!

I saw on your AAR that you said some Pathan units were reluctant to advance, Did you allow the tribal infantry a free move (do not have to roll to activate)?

I did, but in my hurry to get them into attacking distance I was trying to order them to move 'at the double'. I'd probably have been better letting them make a normal move and getting there in their own time.

I think using half-strength units with 54mm figures on a 6' x 4' table worked really well. The game looked better for it and had more pace to it as units were more brittle. I will do the same in future when using 54mm with Lion Rampant and Pikeman's Lament. Of course the real victor in the game was Nibbles the vulture….
