Might someone on this site copy in the Rousselot illustration of a trumpeter of the 15th? I recall he is in a sky-blue habit with yellow lapels, cuffs (not shown), turnbacks, collar etc. Collar and lapels with white edging. Great non-standard uniform!

He has a tall plume, bottom 55% rose, top 45% white.

Sheepskin saddle cover is white, edges rose, as for all the men. Nothing else unique in the saddlery.

I recall is was about 1803-06. There was a time Napoleon wanted to put all the dragoons into sky blue.

If Archiduque and von W approve your painting….you are surely doing something right! They are spectacular.

I like the combination of chestnut and grey horses, then your skill at painting a "15" in 28mm scale and finally that officer above all. Why can Perrys not see how easily he would become an Empress Dragoon, Garde Imperiale?……Give us the white lapel look, for which they are famous.

As you admit, you did not do the trumpeter (Chicken, who can't do greys then?) or the Eagle Bearer (any unit of 10 dragoons obviously has to have an eagle surely, n'est pas?)

Thank you for the kind comments.

I hesitated for a while before taking the plunge and going for the 15's on the saddles. Actually it was not that bad, I guess 1/3 of them needed corrections after the first go.

Trumpeter/Eagle? I may paint them down the line, but they are of little use for Sharp Practice. And the trumpeter is a lot of work indeed ;)

And last, I agree, it's a shame the Guard Grenadiers a Cheval, Gendarmes and Dragoons all wear the 'surtout' jacket. But hey, *some* asked for Gardes d'Honneur and the Perry brothers heard their voice!

"Ask and you shall receive" saith the Good Book……..

Only kidding about the eagle. One eagle bearer, one trumpeter, throw in a pioneer, an elite company member, an officer…the end result is very "top heavy" unit………..that then does not look like "a unit" on the table. These do, despite the small numbers.

How good is the officer's shabraque and holster covers? He is a great figure
