Simple question; I am planning to paint up Lutzow's Freikorp from the Befreiungskrieg (1813-14 campaigns). That means the uniforms are basically all black for clothing and headgear. How do I make this look good in 10mm? |

Paint them warm charcoal grey over a black primer, dry brush a lighter grew on the high spots. Keep straps and webbing darker blue black and perhaps use a gloss. Let the two foot visibility do the rest. They will look black. |

Use the Army Painter's necromancer cloak color with a black wash and highlight it with GW Mechanicus Gray. It will look great! |

Steve Dean mixes in flesh color to black as a highlight for black. Extremely effective. |

Off topic but 138Sqdn what figures are you using for this project? |

I was using Pendraken Landwehr infantry, cavalry and hussars. Although having just picked up Dr Summerfield's book on Prussian Landwehr they may just become those. In 10mm you find (a) figures may not always be 100% accurate (b) the size is forgiving of minor inaccuracies. No, I'm not converting figures at this scale. |

Thanks 138Sqdn. As a recent convert to 10mm I have found a) and b) liberating. I have ordered some Prussian Landwehr standard bearers to mix in with MM Opolochene to avoid a uniform look. Pendraken sell their figures separately on request. Please post pictures of your Lutzows if you decide to go down that path. |
