…B-Movies for Remakes, Reboots, and More

"One of the most legendary (and notorious) filmmakers of all time is about to have his renaissance. Shout! Factory has bought the rights to 270 of Roger Corman's films and a scifi TV show, meaning we could soon be getting reboots of classic films like Forbidden World, Galaxy of Terror, and Slumber Party Massacre. The new MST3K crew must be drooling right now.

In a press release, Shout! Factory's team announced they, along with Chinese company Ace Films, have purchased the rights to 270 of Corman's 360+ films he'd created over the span of his decades-long career, for an undisclosed sum. They plan to create new films and remakes based on the classic works from "The King of B-Movies" while others will be syndicated or licensed out. Does that mean we'll get a new Humanoids from the Deep in the near future? Personally, this cult classics fan is excited because Shout! also owns the rights to Mystery Science Theater 3000, meaning the chance of more Corman movies coming to the Satellite of Love seems very, very likely…"

"for Remakes, Reboots, and More"

Remade in their image, of course. Molded to their new goals. Probably re-crafted beyond all recognition (or more like Fubar).

Dan
PS. I wonder if they also snatched up Dennis Sanders' "Invasion of the Bee Girls" (1973). :)

They could re-make "Humanoids From the Deep," but have the fishmen thwarted by the #MeToo movement.

Lol. Well, they can't just be going after the women on land. That wouldn't be right. Everyone will now need to get impregnated, equally. :)

Either that or the fishmen just politely ask the women to make the first move. But they'll be made to take sensitivity classes first.

In any case, they'll still find some way to make all the human males be the bad guys in the remake. And they will even blame it on global warming too.

No. The remakes would not be recognizable.

Another angle might be added by having a teenager tell his guidance counselor that he has always felt more at home with fish, ever since his parents set up a tropical fish tank when he was little. Now he comes out as a Trans-humanoid fishman and starts taking massive doses of fish oil supplements and tells his peers he's going to have gill slits surgically opened on his neck and his eyelids removed and replaced with transparent plastic covers. The other kids can then bully him, nicknaming him Salmon Rushdie and Tuna-Face. In the end he will flee to the sea and be accepted by the Fishmen.

Wait. You mean he wouldn't have access to a safe space, to protect him from his regressive parents and other micro aggressive bullies?

What will he do when people sigh, shake their heads or roll their eyes at what he says? Who will be there to hold his hand and protect him from all that micro-violence? Who will avenge him and take note of all those who must be blacklisted?

And I'm surprised they wouldn't call for a shutdown of all sushi restaurants unless they served only vegan seafood.

Nope. Humanoids from the Deep will never be the same.
