Does that require supporting membership? I don't seem to be able to do it.

MajorB13 Mar 2018 11:54 a.m. PST

What do you mean by "Rules Forum"?

I read quite a few of your posts, Major B, and I have to ask, are you a prosecution lawyer? Most of your replies appear to be adversarial in tone. And often in error.

Wherethestreetshavnoname13 Mar 2018 1:07 p.m. PST

To the OP, I'm not a Supporting Member and I can post.

Like so. TMP link

I'm able to post on existing thread, but when I try to start a new topic, I get a view without a text entry box.

Wherethestreetshavnoname13 Mar 2018 1:40 p.m. PST

Ah, so do I. Perhaps it's another functionality that's been turned off?

No, I'm not a lawyer of any description.

However, I find it difficult to answer questions without sufficient information. Hence my question above. I'm sorry if you think asking for more information is adversarial.

When you ask "what do you mean by x" it implies the person you're addressing has inadequately explained themselves. As you can see, by "Rules Forum" I meant the part of the site called the "Rules Forum". You had sufficient information in the question. You just didn't have sufficient knowledge, in which case the response is "I don't know" or in this context no response at all. Thanks for your help

At the very least he is very consistent.

I'm not being adversarial – just confused – how do I find the Rules Forum without the link above?

The only thing on my front page menu about rules is a directory with no link to a forum.

The address for the page the above link takes me to is theminiaturespage.com/rules/boards/ if I remove the boards part it takes me to the aforementioned 'directory' page with no links I can see to any boards – how on earth do I navigate to this forum in normal circumstances?

Gwyndion-
see TMP link

In the upper left corner it states that the "Rules Forum" is for supporting members. Since you and I are not supporting members, we should probably not be able to see or post on it. However, things like this have happened before and have been caught and fixed.

mgdavey14 Mar 2018 8:34 a.m. PST

Ok, I didn't see the note that states it's for supporting members. Thanks.

My experience exactly. Hence the clarification question.

So perhaps mgdavey and Wherethestreetshavnoname owe MajorB an apology?

Maybe?

Just a little one?

Wherethestreetshavnoname14 Mar 2018 2:10 p.m. PST

It's in the tone.

'What do you mean by "Rules Forum"?' is somewhat abrupt, one might almost say accusatory.

It seems to be Major B's style when (not) answering questions.

I believe there is a button though, so if I just…. Ah, that's better.

How is asking a simple question accusatory?
How do you suggest I should phrase it then?

The Angry Piper15 Mar 2018 6:57 a.m. PST

No real dog in this fight, but it seems overly sensitive to me to read that much into a simple question. I was also unaware of this part of TMP until the question was asked and the link supplied by the OP.

Sometimes a question is just a question.

Until recently, I was also unaware that there are more "Lounge" boards than just "The Parlor". Seems like no one really visits the other boards, but still…it was a part of TMP I didn't know existed.

"The tone….."
Haven't we been aware that "the tone" is impossible to to determine on The Internet since 1844 when Morse invented the telegraph?
"What hath God wrought"?
Explain yourself, Mister Morse!

Or "The world wonders". That's a famous one.
