This is a system which uses map cards and a booklet to describe in more detail each card. Does anyone have a copy of this system?

Hi Rich,

I have a copy of Warplan 5/5 (the horse and musket variant, IIRC, there was a modern variant as well) – for those of you who don't know, this quite marvelous system came out back about 1970, and has (as far as I know)long been unavailable. The heart of it is 30 2 sided geomorphic 5x5" cards (thus 60 unique sides)that can be used to make a continent (or several). There were also 3 Island cards available as well, which I also have. We used it to successfully fight at least 4 campaigns, one over a period of many years.

Rich,

I too have a copy of the Horse and Musket version. It was published by Hirstle Graphics at Elham, near Canterbury, Kent (the designer owned the graphics company). He sold the product to Heritage Models in the USA around 1975, apparently Heritage had big plans for it but I don`t think anything ever happened.

Regards,

H.

I owened them a while back but lost them somewhere along the line. Peter has graciously sent me a copy. I plan to use them in electronic form and manipulate them in photoshop. I can take several maps and merge them into a single map. I can then put a layer of informaiton over the map without affecting the original maps. I think in electronic form they will be a great tool for creating campaigns and reporting of the campaign. This was a system made for computers. It was just ahead of its time.

Peter:

Years ago I ordered Warplan from a company called Games Innovations in Colorado. I received the rules booklet, but did not receive the maps and the counters.

I can make counters, but is it possible to get a copy of the maps, either hard copy or scanned images?

Very interested in your electronic format. Do you plan on showing off the work on a blog or website. If the system is unavailable could one get a copy without infringing on any copyright laws?

Not much has been done on it. It is for my personal use. Because of possible copyright infringement, I don't think I would make it available to the public.
