For me I always enjoy a game of:

1812
Flash Point

Talisman

Pandemic (board game), Red November, Awful Green Things From Outer Space, and Intruder are all fun and play quickly.

Dale Hurtt10 Mar 2018 11:00 a.m. PST

Generally any Richard Borg design (Memoir '44, Command and Colors, Battlelore, etc.). Hell, even Abaddon gets some love.

Gokiburi10 Mar 2018 11:35 a.m. PST

My current favorites are (in no real order):
Catacombs
Alien frontiers
Cosmic Encounter
Carcassonne Hunters & Gatherers

I'm with Jim Duncan. If you're playing a non-miniatures game, you're neglecting your miniatures. Doesn't someone need touching up, at least?

Bashytubits10 Mar 2018 12:43 p.m. PST

What are you talking about Robert?! I am going to miniaturize my Awful Green Things from outer space, here is what I am going to use for crew and monsters.

I am seriously thinking about doint this for Junta as well.
The waterloo block game is great for generating battles to play with miniatures, so I reject your premise.

Whatever the group wants to play. Lately we've done Star Trek Panic, Risk: Lord of the Rings, Risk: 2210, Risk: Star Wars, Risk: Star Wars a Original Trilogy Edition, D&D Conquest of Nerath (an excellent Axis & Allies system variant), and Conquest of the Empire. We also love Wings of War/Glory and X-Wing.

While Dr. Who Risk! is not on my fave list (though it does have a couple of nice additional things going that add Dr. Who flavour and make a fun game (avoiding the Risk! grindhouse of death)), I'm not ignoring my minis for it.

In fact, only the Daleks came with it (and they were unpainted, mostly in garish non-Dalek colours), so the UNIT forces and cybermen are added. Next is Sontarans, if I can find some of the "old" or "classic" 15mm Prang (I guess they are)…

Where did the Star Trek playset come from Bashy ? Never saw it before ! huh?

Cardinal Ximenez11 Mar 2018 4:52 p.m. PST

Lock n Load games are very good. I especially like the Viet Nam, WWII Pacific and Falklands games. The maps are very well done as are the counters.

Personally, I've also been doing solo Dungeon Saga, have played some Ogre, and am now playtesting my own rules for Three-Dimensional Chess (Star Trek style set).

I guess I really don't have a favorite game. Just whatever captures my current fancy.

Britannia
Kingmaker

Ticket To Ride with my kids is what probably gets the most table time. I picked up Ogre 6th Ed. at Christmas and have enjoyed getting it on the table.
