I'm on the verge of building a crusader army. (1st – 3rd Crusade) I'm sure many of you have seen Fireforge's foot sergeants. They're billed as crusaders, but I wonder. they seem to be very well equipped and uniformed, with steel helmets, mail, and kite shields.

I was under the impression that the foot soldiers of the Crusades were less well equipped than that -- and particularly, that the kite shield belongs more to the knights than the infantry.

What do you think? Do the Fireforge foot sergeants represent the rank and file spear carriers of the crusades well? Is there another product that represents them better?

They fit in with the 3rd Crusade at the very earliest. The 1st Crusade would be closer in appearance to the previous generation which fought at Hastings.
