I'm painting up 15mm precontact Native Americans for a friend. He has given me about 150 figures to paint. 40-50 figures per "tribe." I'm wondering what about the colors of feathers for headdresses. Should I use mainly white with some browns? Or browns and grays? Or does it really matter? They're supposed to be 15mm Eastern Woodland Native Americans with spears and wooden shields. I'm not sure about "tribes." He wasn't specific about how he wanted them painted. Blake |

Feathers would have been eagle, turkey, hawk, crane and egret primarily Different tribes had different styles from the roaches, headbands, hats to gustowehs |

Lord is this a can of worms for variety. A fascinating era. I did a series of articles on pre-Colombian contact conflicts and wars for different regions. It was titled Our Place Under the Sun. they were released in the Time Portal Passages magazine through Magweb back around 2000. Doing just the Eastern area makes it a lot easier. Cherokee Iroquois, Huron are just a few of them. |
